Masquerade! Paper faces on parade! Masquerade! Hide your face so the world will never find you!

-Paris, 1870 ~ Erik P.O.V.-

It's been 6 months. Christine seems happy. Every so often she will just stare at the mirror and call out to me. I never responded despite being right there staring back at her. But in the end, she runs back to Raoul, forgetting all about her Angel of Music.

Eventually, things changed.

Christine and Raoul got engaged. It was time to come out of hiding. I began plotting again. In my time in hiding, I focused all of my efforts into finishing my masterpiece Don Juan Triumphant. I would bring it out into the open and give Christine the glory she deserves. Maybe then she'll love me.

It was almost the new year. On that day, André and Firmin were planning a Masquerade Ball in which I was planning to attend. Of course, I would crash it cuz I wasn't invited. Totally not salty or anything... I planned out exactly what would happen and what I would wear, I just had to make my costume.

The Red Death costume.

I was so ready to scare the living crap out of everyone. Hopefully I didn't scare Christine too much... After all, I do want her to love me. Everything would have to be perfect.

Eventually, the Masquerade was here. I was ready. Everything was set in place and I was dressed and ready to go. I sat and waited patiently until my time. Everyone was acting so blissfully happy and elated; it was disgusting. I had never seen a more disgusting show of happiness and joy in my life. They were acting as if it were Christmas, only the best Christmas in the world. Because they believed I was gone for good. Well, I'll show them.

I noticed Christine in all her sublime nature, dancing away. She seemed so happy, I almost smiled at the sight. Then I realized the reason why she was happy and that was Raoul. Ugh. I hated that insolent fool. Eventually I had had enough.

At the climax of their song, I suddenly appeared in front of them. Everyone gasped and/or screamed in horror.
"Why so silent, good Messieurs? Did you think that I had left you for good?" I sang as I walked slowly down the stairs. I watched everyone's face filled with horror.

"Have you missed me, good Messieurs? I have written you an opera. Here, I bring the finished score. Don Juan Triumphant!" I threw my masterpiece at their feet.

"Fondest greetings to you all. A few instructions just before rehearsal starts. Carlotta must be taught to act not her normal trick of strutting round the stage! Our Don Juan must lose some weight. It's not healthy in a man of Piangi's age! And my managers must learn that their place is in an office, not the arts! As for our star, Miss Christine Daae..." I paused as I approached her. Her face was filled with terror. I inwardly sighed. She'll understand soon.

"No doubt she'll do her best, It's true, her voice is good, She knows, though Should she wish to excell She has much still to learn If pride will let her return to me, her teacher, Her teacher..." I paused as I was right in front of her. She had walked up a few steps closer to me, transfixed. I saw Raoul out of the corner of my eye and I snarled. I grabbed her necklace.

"Your chains are still mine; you belong to me!" I exclaimed and ripped it off her neck. Before anyone could say or do anything, I activated the smoke bomb and escaped. Wow, I really just did that. Was it just me or had I seen something in Christine's eyes besides fear. Was it, admiration? No it couldn't be. I can't be focusing on this now. I have to be focusing on perfecting my opera plans. Oh boy, this is going to be fun.
