Hospital

3rd Person's POV
As they drove off to the hospital every one was worried. When they entered Riley, Mark, and Skip went to wait with Jack while Daniel and Dodds went to wait for Shane.

"Hey," Mark said he walked up to and kissed Jack "How's Matt?" "Still in surgery, Stephanie, Felix and Nate are on their way. Where's Shane?" Jack asked "Rushed to surgery, she was shot" Riley spoke up Jack had a sadden look on his face "Daniel and Dodds are waiting for her." She added. After a few minutes of waiting in silence footsteps were heard "Where is he?" Nate's voice was heard followed by two other voices "Jack said to meet us here." Stephanie "Bro Matt's going to be okay." Felix "Nate over here," Mark called out waving his hand while carrying Skip in his other hand. Nate's face was red and tears were running like waterfalls, Stephanie and Felix had grim looks on their faces. "Where is he?" Felix asked

"People for Matthew Pattrick?" A nurse called out "I'll talk to the nurse." Jack walked to the nurse and they had a conversation. Jack walked back to the others a blank expression was in his friends "He said that Matt's out of surgery but he's not ready for visitors." Jack told them Riley started to fidgeting Mark elbowed her "Go check on Shane." He whispered to her, she nodded and left. "Where's Riley going?" Steph asked "Matt wasn't the only one injured tonight. Shane took a bullet." Jack said hugging his sides Mark wrapped his arm around him "I'm gonna go check in on Riley." Jack walked away "Matt's not ready for visitors, we should go check on Shane." Mark said walking to where jack went the others followed.

(With Daniel)
Daniel stared down at his phone "You gonna call them again?" Dodds asked "I don't know my dad doesn't seem to care but my mom does so I'll just call her." Daniel started to dial his mom.

Daniel's POV
...RING...RING...RING...

"Hello?" A voice answered "Hey mom," I said "Daniel? What's wrong sweetheart?" Mom asked "Its uh um," I took a deep breath "It's Shane." I told her "Shane?" I didn't know how to say it so I did "Yeah Shane. She was shot." "Is she-" I could hear her voice breaking "We got her to the hospital as soon as we found her. She was protecting her friends." I felt tears running down my face I wiped them off "F-friends?" "Yeah Shane made friends here, it's not just her and Riley anymore," I smiled "She's in surgery as we speak." "Did the doctors say anything?" "No not yet but a nurse just came I'll call you later okay. I love you mom." "I love you too sweetheart take care and be careful tell the twins, Alex and Shane I said hi. Okay." "Okay mom love you." "Love you too." I hanged up.

I see Riley and the others walked here. "Hey," I greet them "Any word?" Riley asked

"People for Shane Harlow?" A nurse called "Gimme a sec." I walk over to the nurse "How is she?" I asked "She's very lucky. The bullet didn't struck any arteries and none of her cuts are showing signs of an infection. She should wake up in a few moments from now. When she wakes up she'll be ready for visitors." He said "I was wondering if you had any-" "Any information on Matthew Pattrick?" He asked "I'm sorry but I can't give any information on a patient. Unless it's the patient's parent or guardian. " I showed him my badge "I'm sorry but you still need a warrant."

"It's on its way." I see Dodds walking up "Thanks" I mouthed. "As long as it's on it way it's okay. Matthew was injected with a drug called DMHP. It's a military drug that causes muscle weakness that's so bad victims of the drug have a hard time standing upright other symptoms include sleepiness, and fainting." I wrote it down on a notepad "Thank you for the information." "It's no problem I'll call you when your sister wakes up." I nodded and walked back to the others with Dodds. "They said that Shane would wake up soon and that she would be ready for visitors." I told them "Why would Shane be ready for visitors but Matt's not?" Nate asked "Matt was injected with a military drug called DMHP. They're waiting for the drug to be flushed out of his systems." I told them "In the mean time you guys have to wait." Dodds said they all sat down. I handed Nate a tissue "Matt wouldn't want you to cry," I told him "How do you do it?" He asked "I'm sorry?" "How do you deal with it when Shane's in the hospital?" He asked again "That's the thing Nate. I don't know how to deal with it," The tears started to run again "I just know she's gonna pull through. We can't get rid of her that easily no matter how hard we try." I joked "That's kinda rude." Mark said "Shane loved those kind of jokes," Riley said "Back in our old middle school she would tell our teachers 'You can't get rid of me that easily' and they would just laugh." "I remember hearing you two playing cards against humanity and laughing your asses off in the cold ass basement. I remember bringing you guys extra blankets and hot coco in the middle of July," I said laughing at the memory "Hey Riley, step one: blank, step two: blank, step three: profit." "Step one: bitches, step two: date rape, step three: profit." She laughed out Mark started giggling "You guys still have the game right?" Riley asked "Yep we even got the red and green boxes." I said. We all sat there waiting a few minutes pass and Dodds left saying that 'they need him' truth is last time he left the broke the toaster with a rubber ducky I don't know how. "People for Shane Harlow?" The same nurse asked I walked up "Yes?" "Your sister's awake you and her friends can visit her. She's in room 374. Don't make a lot of noise she's still recovering." He said I nodded and walked back.

"Shane's awake. Wanna visit her?" I asked they all stood up "Can we stop at the gift shop real quick." Riley asked I nodded. Riley bought decks of UNO, go fish and old maid. We were walking to Shane's room "Does Shane love card games?" Steph asked "Yeah," Riley said "It was the only thing that got her mind off the other kids." We arrived at her room I walk in "Shane?" The lights were dim and she was hooked up to different wires. I'm used to seeing victims like this but when your youngest sister is the victim I don't know man. Shane looked at me and gave me a toothy grin like the ones she gave me when she did something bad. I smiled back.

"Buddy..." She said "Hey how you feeling?" By now everyone was in the room and Nate stopped crying "My arm connecter hurts." She was still out of it from the surgery I heard Jack giggling in the background along with Mark "It's call a shoulder and you were shot there," "I was," I nodded "Shot through the heart and your to blame." She pointed upwards "Alright stupid college question you ready?" I asked "Yep!" She nodded like a five year old "Jack has twelve apples, Nate has twenty oranges, what is the social security number of queen of England?" "25!" She cheered "Wrong." Shane giggled. After marking a few more jokes she started coughing a few minutes later I helped her sit up right and Felix handed her a bottle of water "Thanks." She said "No problem bro." Felix said Nate, Jack and Mark walked up. Shane looked around "Where's Matt?" She was more lucid now "In recovery," Jack said "Shane," Nate started "I just wanna say thanks for saving Matt. I don't know what I would do if I lost him." He started to cry again "Hey it's the least I could do. I mean you were the first friend I made besides Riley. Come here." Shane and Nate shared a hug "Matt's gonna be fine we got him out of there as soon as we heard the gunshot." She said as Nate broke the hug "Shane," Shane looked at Mark "I'm not going to lie but what you did was stupid," "Agreed But you can't stop me from doing it again." "But you got all of us out safely we owe you thanks for saving our lives." Mark and Jack gave Shane a hug. After the hug Shane started to cry a little "Shane what's wrong?" Stephanie asked "I never had friends like you guys." Her voice cracked.

I walk over and give her a hug "It's okay," I told her "It's okay to be an emotional mess once in a while." I felt a small punch "J-jerk." She laughed "By the way I called mom she said hi and get well soon." "Really no trip to see her favorite child." "Alright cool it there buck-o." I said "Who says buck-o?" She giggled we all started to play a few round of uno. The same nurse from before came into the room "I'm sorry to tell you this but visiting hours will be over in 5 minutes unless you are staying the night with the patient please make your way out the building." He said he left before we even opened our mouths. "Try to rest alright I'll stay here with you," I told her "And your guys go home, your parents must be worried sick." I looked at them "I know you want to stay but you need to go home Riley has my number I can tell you the conditions of both Matt and Shane if your text me. Oh and Riley take Skip to my house Alex can take care of him while Matt's here." They started to leave after saying goodnight and get well soon. I looked at Shane she was starring at the celling "Is it me or did someone put a hit on Matt?" She asked "Get some rest Dodds will coming by in the morning to take your statement." I told her. She nodded and went to sleep, I turned off the lights and laid down on the small couch in the room. Please don't take her away dad.

I felt like doing bullshit so I did. By bullshit I meant staying up all summer long. (I have a problem) I got back to 'prison' in September next chapter Matt's parents are going to court but are they really his parents? I said too much. Bye bye 👋 👋
