Fresh hummed lightly as he made his way through the school, moving towards his second period with ease. He had been avoiding Undyne for a while now, since he was pretty sure she still was out to get him for spraining her arm the first day he was there.
The hallways weren't that hard to navigate, but when they're jam packed full of people and loud noises, it wasn't really a picnic either.
"Fr-Fresh!" A softly, stuttering voice called out, making the small skeleton turn towards the noise.
Instantly he spotted his yellow lizard friend with the extremely tall skeleton.
"Alphys, Papyrus!" He called to them, waving his hand up.
The two caught up to him quickly.
"How's it been, you two?"
It had been at least a week since he had last seen them. Which was a bit confusing since neither of them like the idea of skipping school unless absolutely necessary.
"I-I can't be-believe I go-got sick ea-eating ramen!" The brainy female called out instantly as they walked along the hall.
"THE GREAT PAPYRUS WAS TRYING TO GET A JOB, HOWEVER, I WAS UNABLE TO OBTAIN ONE..." He actually looked quiet down.
Fresh didn't really like that.
"Don't worry buddy, you'll find a job in no time! Besides, who wouldn't want to hire the Great and Magnificent Papyrus?" The shorter skeleton chirped, lightly patting the other on the back.
This sprung a large smile on the scarfed monster.
"NEYEHHEH! YOU'RE RIGHT! THE GREAT PAPYRUS SHALL NOT GIVE UP!"
The two shorter monsters giggled at the overzealous monster they were friends with. They honestly were surprised the guy didn't have a girlfriend or was at least friends with a few of the popular students.
They probably couldn't handle how over the top or honest he was.
"Bye guys, this is my stop." Fresh waved at the other two who gave small pouts at not being able to talk with him more. They only really shared two periods together, Tech and Lunch. And like I mentioned earlier, they had missed school for a bit.
Swiftly, the nerd found his way to his desk, calmly sitting down and pulling out his notebook, when the looming shadow of the one and only Unydne was over him.
"I was looking for you, punk." She hissed, lightly placing her sharp hand on his desk, glaring at him with her good eye.
The smaller monster gulped nervously, sitting up straight to look her dead in the eye. Or as much as possible since he wore sunglasses.
"S-Sorry, Blue Rose, but I really don't want any more problems... I won't be here that long if it makes anything better." He softly told her.
She scoffed at him, her lips pulling into a sneer before she decided to push herself up and leave him be. No, she wasn't scared of him, but he was right. What she was doing was going to get her hurt again and most likely kicked off the team. Two things she really didn't want to happen.
It didn't take long before the rest of the class showed up, though PJ was nearly late, coming in seconds before the bell.
"PJ, I want to talk to you after class." The old goat monster hissed softly, not even glancing at him as she started rereading through some things.
The jock huffed under his breath, but he knew he couldn't fight her, the most he could to do was ask her to give him a pass so he wouldn't be late to his next class... Which would suck.
"Alright class, today, I want you all to be doing an essay." The green dressed monster called out after a few minutes. "I expect it to be done by the end of the week." She lightly snapped, glaring mainly at Undyne and BP, since those two usually ask for more time or just blantly hand it in late.
A hand went up.
"What topic would we be discussing?" A human girl asked, putting her hand down after her question went into the air.
"Thank you for that." The goat woman said with a gentle smile before addressing the rest of the class. "The essay can either be creative or informative. But, it has to at minium be three pages long, front and back. The topics can be anything school appropriate. This is not a group project, so I hope none of you are planning on just copying each others works and claiming it as your own."
The classroom stayed silent, not really knowing what to say to something like that. Though she wasn't really wrong. They probably would've done they did it.
"Can we at least talk and brainstorm together?" A human male called out.
The old teacher paused for a moment, lightly tapping her chin.
"I don't see why not. As long as you have different ideas or at least different paths, then I don't mind."
With a small dismissive wave of her hand, she allowed the class to begin research or whatever for the start of their essays.
PJ glanced at Fresh, watching as the small nerd skipped the research and simply started writing. He most likely was going for the Creative essay. It did sound easier, but knowing Ms. Life, she's expecting some high quality story from that. Which is why most of the class was going for the informative essay.
The jock lightly bit his lip before deciding to write a Creative essay. Yeah, he's not a good writer, but he does have a good imagination, so that could help push him through on that. Plus, his Mom can help him on it too.
After that, the day went by quickly, the small band of nerdy monsters talked about animes they liked, even about the newly opened restaurant that were hiring waiters.
Fresh was able to look through and help his tall skeleton friend on his resume. He even gave the big guy some pointers on how to nail the interview if they gave him one.
Now, was Ink's class... And he just so happened to be giving everyone a small group project.
"Okay, since the class is a bit uneven, there'll be seven groups of three and one group of two." The short teacher explained quickly. He waited for a moment, maybe to let the news of a project settle in. "Okay, lets get the duo out of the way. Since Fresh is new here still and hasn't done a project with me, he's being paired with PJ." The kind artist told swiftly, smiling brightly.
A few fan girls glared at the white skeleton, but the jock himself looked a little unfazed. He usually is always paired with another male and is rarely ever in a group of three. It's mainly because of the fan girls, who wouldn't really be doing anything and distracting him from helping out.
Plus, Fresh wasn't that bad of a person to be partnered with.
A few minutes passed with some mild complaining about partners and last minute changes, Ink was finally able to talk about the project.
It was a simple story project, basically where each member of the group makes two or more pictures either using watercolors, pencils or pastels, then the team would have to come up with a story for the whole thing. Or, if they want to make it easier, make the story first then add in a few pictures at key points in the story.
It really didn't sound too bad, plus that was about the easiest thing the short skeleton had ever given them to do for the whole year!
"Alright! Meet with your teammates!" The hyper artist called out, smiling brightly.
The black boned skeleton easily turned in his chair, raising an eyebrow at the other.
They quietly stared at each other for a moment, before a soft smile broke onto the smaller's face.
"Okay."
