"How much farther?" Patton gasps breathing heavily. "We've been hiking for hours!"

"Just a little bit further my prince! I know you can do it!" Roman cheers grabbing Patton's hand and pulling him forward.

"Ok, just let me rest my feet for a second and then we can keep going." Patton says walking towards a tree stump. A pair of arms stops his progress as they scoop him up into the air.

"Roman, what are you doing?" Patton laughs as Roman continues up the trail still holding Patton bridal style.

"I'm protecting you from your aching feet!" Roman exclaimed. "I don't want anything to distract you from having a fabulous time!"

Patton giggles slightly at his boyfriend's behavior and pulled himself up to plant a kiss on Roman's cheek.

"I love you Roman,"

"I love you too sunshine."

They continued the last minute or two of the hike in silence, just enjoying each other's company.

"We have arrived!" Roman proclaimed setting Patton down, but not before swinging him in a circle first. Patton looked around at the scene in front of him. A picnic had been set up in a grassy clearing and he could see a hammock hanging from two trees a few feet away. Fairy lights stretched from tree to tree across the clearing.

"This is beautiful Ro!" Patton gushed.

"Anything for you, Cookie!" Roman said, gently grabbing Patton's hand and leading him over to the basket of food. The two boys sit down and start on their picnic which pretty much just consists of cookies and some fruits.

"Hey Sunshine," Roman said holding a strawberry, "Try this."

"Roman, I've had strawberries before," Patton giggled.

"You're no fun," Roman pouted.

"Fine, give me the strawberry." Patton said rolling his eyes and grinning at Roman.

Roman perked up and held the strawberry up to Patton's lips. Laughing slightly, Patton bit into the strawberry. Roman pulled the strawberry and leaned in giving Patton a quick kiss.

"What was that for?" Patton giggled.

"Can't I just kiss you because
I love you?" Roman responded. "And you had strawberry on your lips."

"You dork," Patton said, shifting his weight so he was leaning against Roman's chest.

"Yeah, but I'm your dork,"

*Time Skip*

Roman and Patton we're laying on the hammock, gently rocking back and forth. Patton has fallen asleep, resting on Roman's chest a while ago. Roman gently ran his fingers through Patton's hair, causing Patton to snuggle into his chest in his sleep. Roman smiled down at the sleeping boy, gently kissing his hair.

"I love you Pat," Roman whispered. "So, so much."

Roman looked towards the sky seeing the sun sink towards the horizon. He looked back towards Patton, pressing another kiss to the other boy's forehead.

"Hey Princy," Patton said, his eyes slowly opening.

"Hey Puppy, sorry I woke you up,"

"It's ok," Patton said lifting up his head and pressing his lips to Romans. Roman kisses back eagerly, moving his arms to pull Patton closer to him.

The two pulled apart only when they needed to breath, but stayed close resting their foreheads against each other.

"Hey Sunshine," Roman whispered.

"Yeah Roman?"

"I was going to wait until tonight and do this at sunset, but I love you so much and I don't want to wait anymore."

"Do what?" Patton asked.

"I love you so much, I don't want to spend another minute of my life without you. I want to wake up besides you every morning and fall asleep with you in my arms at night. You make my life so much better, you make me so much better." Roman said grabbing a small box out of his pocket and opening it. "I would get down on one knee, but you're laying on top of me and I don't want to move us. So will you make my life a thousand times better and marry me?"

"Yes! Of course I will!" Patton said quickly kissing Roman again. "I love you so much, Roman."

Roman laughed sliding the ring onto Patton's finger. "I love you too, Patton."
