Bonding: Predatory Respect part 1

Note: This is a short story series revolving around different Wily bots recovered before the second generation. Each of their stories occurred around several months to a year before the events of the first chapter. Each story revolves around one to two Wily bots, including a Light or other robot.

For this one is the story of Snakeman, Slashman, and Plantman. And they are in the Amazon Rainforest.

I caught sight of my prey on the ground. Watching the little flowers with that blissful ignorance. What a perfect surprise he'll get when I pounce.

I crawl my way through the thick, careful not to make a single sound. I was silent, he wasn't suspecting anything. I refrained from laughing as I got closer to him. His colorful flower head blew in the wind, and I stood up getting even closer. I almost got him.

However, just as I was ready to attack, his slightly sarcastic voice said,

"Don't you even think about it Snake."

Aww...

"How did you even know it was me?" I asked him, walking around him as he picked the wildflowers. These amazon flowers really were something else.

"I've known you for several months now, so I know your tricks." He gave me a flower, attaching it to my snake helmet tail. "Now, where have you been?"

"Avoiding Slash." I walked through the brush.

"Oh no...what happened now?"

"What do you think? Last night, he tried to sneak attack me in my sleep. If it weren't for my search snake, he would've gotten me. I'm telling you, he really hates me for being a Wily bot. I mean, you don't see him getting all hostile with you..." I saw a tiny rodent scuttling along the ground. I creep on it as Plant continues maintaining the bushes.

"I don't think that's it." He suggested.

"Plant last time we met, he tried to claw my eyes out and slit my throat open." I pounce on the rodent and due to my weight, crushed it immediately and swallowed it down. "Good food."

"You're thinking of it the wrong way Snake. He doesn't hate you for being a wily bot, it's what you're based on he can't stand."

"What are you talking about?"

"Well, you're based on a snake, yes? A predator in nature. He's very animalistic in nature too, and frankly, you're older than him. Put two and two together and..."

I realized what he meant as he wiped the weeds clean off the area. He smiled as we walked back to base. "Wait, you mean he wants to challenge me?"

"Yep!" He smiled.

"But Plant! I can't do that! I'm not that much of an animal like he is. I may hunt the occasional prey and stalk in the night, but I don't live like a animal. I live in a observatory with you for crying out loud and still eat premade food."

"Doesn't mean he feels the same way. Remember Snake, not everyone will have the same opinion as you or me, no matter how much we want to change them." He sighed. "No matter how much I try to stop those loggers, they get closer every day into the forest."

"They're still doing it?" I groaned. I always hated the loggers who would waltz in here like they own the place, make destruction without even making use for it, and kill the wildlife Plant loved. It made me sick what humans did sometimes. And they've been doing this for months, even before the flower robot rebuilt me.
