        TODAY WAS MY FIRST DAY OF ACTUAL CLASSES. i was very very nervous. we had ballet in the morning, then lunch and after that some normal high school classes. i was very anxious for the ballet class especially.

        Brynn told me that in the first day we first get assigned our pas de deux and then we get to know each other and go over basics. she said that when getting a partner, it's pure luck. you either get someone who you click with or you don't. if the teacher sees that it's not working she switches partners. but it's better if that doesn't happen.

        we got ready in our ballet atire and headed to breakfast. we got to our class just in time. "hey Kenz, relax! you'll be fine" my blonde friend said. right after that the teacher entered the room and Brynn gave me a reassuring smile and whispered "breathe! its going to be good, you'll see". she turned around and i saw her lock eyes with a curly headed boy and smile at him wonder who that is! i thought.

"good morning. so, you guys know the drill by now. i'm going to assign your partners for the year and if anything goes wrong just let me know" she said looking at us severely "do we have any new students here?" she asked after a couple of seconds "Kenz raise your hand" Brynn whispered. i dreadfully did what she said "welcome! what's your name?" the teacher asked now staring right at me "Mackenzie Ziegler". when i said that the practically whole class turned to look at me. shit! i really didn't want this. even the teacher whose name i still don't know was kind of taken aback by my name "w-well uh my name is Ms Raine and i'm your teacher".

"okay. let's get this started" was the last thing i heard her say before i zoned out. she was just calling names and i was too preoccupied thinking about the reaction of the class when they heard my name when they see my dancing it's going to be so bad! gosh was all i could think about before a poke interrupted me "what's up with you today k? you got assign to Hayden! he is great" Brynn said "which one is him?" "the curly headed one" she said. i started to head his direction. please let him be nice, please!

"oh hi partner! i'm Hayden Summerall. you're Brynn's new roommate correct?" he said while giving me a cute smile "y-yeah! i'm Mackenzie Ziegler but don't call me Mackenzie please" i said before giggling "i hate it". he put his hand on his chin like he was thinking and stayed like that for a while what the hell is he thinking about "i like Mack and Kenz" he said and i let out a breath i didn't know i was holding "i can work with that" i said laughing and being soon joined by him.

"okay guys, get to know your partners for now and we will start exercises soon" Ms Raine said. "sooo... are you in any other programs?" i asked him "yeah! i'm in photography too. oh you would be a great model, i'm stealing you one day" he said getting suddenly excited "aren't there actual models here?" i questioned his choice "yeah, but a fresh face is always good. and you're very pretty" he said in a natural tone which made me blush even more then the phrase normally would. what is it with boys here and fliritng? "Mack? are you still there?" he asked while snapping his fingers in front of me "sorry i zone out zone times" i said earning a laugh from him.

"i asked if you were in any other programs?" "oh no not really..." i said and changed the subject right away so we didn't get to the music point "so, age?" "16!" "ay me too" i said and we laughed again. "can we ask unconventional questions? it helps with the getting to know each other" he said "sure, you are more experienced so start!" i said "uh, okay. if you had to have any superpower what would it be?" "shoot, good one. uh... if it was for only a day tele transportation so i could travel the world. if it was for life invisibility. you?" "flying duh. who doesn't pick flying" his phrase made me laugh "i guess me".

        "now you ask" he said while looking at me with hopeful eyes "uh... what's your favorite word?" i asked unsure if it was actually a good question. "i've never been asked that! i think... shoot i don't know" he put his hand on his chin again while thinking "I KNOW!  i like the sound of although. that sounds weird but i guess that's my answer. what's yours?" "uh, there is this word in portuguese, it's saudade. it means the feeling of missing someone. i think it's cool that they have a noun for that!" i answered and Hayden just stared at me in awe, like i had said something genius "that's a much better answer than mine" he said looking sad "i like the sound of although too" i tried to make him feel better.

        the rest of the class we spent either talking or doing the exercises Ms Raine had assigned us. Hayden was actually a pretty fun person and i was glad he was my partner and maybe friend. "okay guys! that's it for today. make sure to work with your partner so you can build trust! that is really important in the paus de deux" Ms Raine said "now you can go change and head to lunch"

        me and Hayden exited the class together and i started looking for Brynn. before i could reach her, i heard someone calling my name "Mackenzie! can i talk to you for a minute?" i turned to find Mr Orlando. "uh sure" i looked at Hayden and he just said "i'll meet you in front of his office soon. i don't think you can find the cafeteria on your own" he said concerned "thanks Hay!".

        me and Mr Orlando started heading to his office. maybe he came to a decision about the music program i kept thinking. when we arrive, i sat down in front of him and he looked sternly at me. "so, i have made up my mind about the music program" he took a break before saying "you're in". i couldn't believe what i've heard "wait really?" "yes really" he said "oh my god! thank you so much. you don't know how much this means to me" i told him.

        "but there are some rules..." he said "of course! whatever you say". he took out a list he probably made and started reading the rules "your dance teachers will not be aware of this, otherwise they would teach lighter and others would notice. the only people that can know are me, you, Johnny and i think it's a good idea that you tell maybe your roommate so she can cover for you if you need and your pas de deux so he knows that you won't be always avaible for practice" he stopped to look at me "you have to keep your grades up. and finally your classes will be held after the normal high school curriculum, that means, in which would be your free time". "i think all of those are fair!" i exclaimed "if you have any partner work or need help, go to Johnny" he said.

        "thank you so much Mr Orlando!" i said while standing up and extending my hand to shake his "you're welcome. you are really talented Mackenzie. make it worth it!". instead of shaking my hand he opened his arms for a hug. "you might not have your mom's support but you have mine. if you need me, i'm always in my office" "thank you" i said pulling away and smiling at him. "now go to lunch kid!" he said. i left the room with the biggest smile ever in my face.
