the bouncer didn't even need to see my id again, he just let me in once he saw my face. i almost ran inside to look for brendon, wherever he might have been. i spotted him sitting at the bar next to a girl i didn't recognize. she was brunette and had a lean, tall figure. even though she was stunning, i didn't really worry about brendon flirting with her. i then walked up to the two and said hi.

"hi, ryan! this is sarah, she just started today as a bartender."

"i'm ryan, like he said. nice to meet you."

"nice to meet you, too! brendon here has told me a few things already."

"were they good things or bad things?"

"let's just say i know way too much about you than i should."

i shot him a look that was a mix of being embarrassed and being humored.

"don't worry about it. he knows way more about my girlfriend than he should, too."

"that's a relief. does she work here?" i questioned.

"yeah, she's a dancer, just like your boyfriend."

"my boyfriend? sadly, we're not there yet."

"yet," brendon muttered under his breath. i'm not sure if he meant for me to hear him or not, but i definitely did.

"well, you're close enough. you both look at each other in the weirdest yet most connected way, i can hardly even explain it."

"we get that a lot," i replied. she shrugged her shoulders in a way that showed that she believed us.

"speaking of my girlfriend, she's walking over right now."

an exceptionally tall dirty-blonde-haired woman walked over to us with a smile. she gave sarah a kiss on the cheek before greeting us with a rather exuberant hello.

"hi, i'm ryan." i held my hand out for her to shake but instead she curled my hand up into a fist with hers and bumped her fist against mine.

"i'm meagan. sarah's probably told you way too much about me than you need to know already."

"busted," sarah said while her cheeks turned a bit rosy.
