Chapter 13: You are not invincible

2nd December, 1975

"-I've already sent letters out to the respective managers in Beauxbatons and Sarcandita. My Aunt's put a deposit down on the place- Casey, have you arranged the caterers yet?" Abellina snapped, her mouth moving so fast that it was practically a blur as she scribbled notes down with a muggle biro that Lily had lent her.

"My mum said her company could do it for free, they're just waiting on a menu." Charlotte Abbot squeaked as she ran to try and keep up with Abellina who was walking through crowds of students as if she owned the place with a trail of students who she'd put in charge breathlessly attempting to keep up with her.

"I'm on it. Now, I'm still waiting to hear from the decorators and if they don't reply by tomorrow then i'll arrange something else. Alice, did you get all the invitations out this morning? Have people RSVP'd yet? Do they know that they need to RSVP?"

"57 have already RSVP'd and I haven't heard from the representatives at Beauxbatons and Sarcandita yet but I sent them all invites." The small thrid year, Alice Fortescue chirped. Abellina had put hufflepuffs in charge of most things after realising that despite not being part of high society then they threw the best parties.

"Well contact them, tell them to get all the RSVP's and and get their shit together because I need numbers to know about the menu." She snapped rather harshly, her tone matching the clicking on her heels that Marlene had persuaded her to wear that morning ('Look at it this way, at least then you'll reach Potters shoulder!') I also need a list of allergies- can you two work on that? I'm trying to pull a few strings and get Celestina Warbeck for entertainment, do you know anyone who might be able to reach her people?"

"I'm on it but i'll need money." This time it was Dorcas Meadows, a seventh year Ravenclaw who's connections were rivalled only by Abellina's and the Slytherin students.

"Just give me a number and i'll arrange it."

"Abellina- I need to talk with you...in private." Lily demanded, storming up to her friend and blocking her path through the tides of students.

"Okay but make it quick, I have Charms in 10 minutes and a party to plan." Abellina sighed after a brief pause in which she looked up at Lily with an eyebrow raised critically. Lily grabbed her hand and pulled her away from the masses into an empty classroom.

"You need to stop this." Lily stated, shutting the door behind them and casting muffling charms despite her disapproval of them.

"Stop what?" Abellina asked, her tone languid and held a cold and distant quality to it and she poised herself on one of the desks, dropping her bag with a light thud.

"Stop obsessing over this bloody party. I suggested W.A.F.E.R. as a way of protecting witches and trying to make it easier to leave hogwarts without facing sexual discrimination. Not as a form of distraction for you." She growled, her entire body tensing as she stood above the pink-haired teen.

"How is it distracting me? My grades are higher than they've ever been and i'm maintaining a healthy social life!"

"I don't mean like that. What I mean is it's distracting you from facing the emotional back lash of what's happened to you." Lily sighed, more gentle this time as sh moved to sit next to Abellina but thought better of it and pulled out a chair from an opposite desk.

"...Meaning?" Abellina narrowed her eyes, leaning forwards slightly so her bangs fell around her face and a strand hung in front of her grey-blue eyes

"Meaning that you've been sexually assaulted and people don't just magically move on from that sort of thing. It takes time and currently you're just ignoring all of the emotional impact of it and charging ahead."
