Ok, time for the confessions.
I am completely and hopelessly in love with my best friend Katniss Everdeen.
There. I said it.
And no, she doesn't know. Because she's two years younger and has enough on her plate. And I'm pretty sure I'm just a friend to her.
And alright, I'm too chicken to tell her.
I think it started after we began hunting together. When we started loosening up and sharing our finds; friends, not just acquaintances. Catnip was fun, outgoing, and had the best shot with a bow and arrow I'd ever seen. Look, I'm already talking about her in the past tense. I'll never ever get a chance to tell her how I feel, now that she's in the Hunger Games. I don't mean to be pessimistic, but there are Careers who could snap her neck with one hand.
I'm scared. And I do not get scared easily.
But what also worries me is what the Capitol is doing to her. Have they transformed rugged, brave, Katniss in a twirling, giggling, princess? And what is with Peeta confessing his love for her publicly? Does he think he'll win more sponsors because of it? Okay, he probably will. But Katniss will too, if she plays her cards right. The Capitol eats this stuff up! Peeta Mellark, of all people, has increased Katniss's chance of survival.
So thanks, Peeta.
