Having been woken up twice, I thanked the caring stranger and made my way towards the next flight. Making my way to my seat, once again by a window, I got comfortable and waited for the plane to take off. A couple of minutes later we were soaring up past the clouds. My sleepiness had long passed, so I began writing in my worn notebook as the plane continued on its wayward course.
~~~~~~~~
I was jolted awake from my slumber by the plane landing on the sizzling black Tarmac. I patiently waited for my turn to exit the plane, letting everyone get off before I do. After finally exiting the plane, I made my way to the baggage claim to search for my suitcase. Finding it with some ease, I leave through the airport's large automatic doors and set out to explore my new home. I was there. I was actually there. Only after stepping out of the unnaturally cool airport, did I realize just how nervous I really was. How scary it was to be all alone in this far away country that I had only dreamed of. I would just have to grin and bear it. I had already traveled all this way and I was not going back.
Deciding to took around for a place to have some food, I was comforted to find something familiar to me: a Starbucks. It was now 7 am on Friday the second, making it exactly 12 am back at home. As I waited in line, I glanced at the menu, happy to find it the same as back home. After ordering my usual: a grande caramel frappuccino, the guy at the counter asks me,
"Is that it?" His velvety Australian accent puts me in to a daze and I mumble in response,
"Uh....yeah."
"Alright that will be $4.20."
"Umm...do you take Visa?" I replied, realizing that I only had American money.
"You're gonna use your card for 4 bucks?" The guy now looks at me with amusement and confusion.
I simply nod before talking, "I only have American dollars at the moment so yeah."
He smirks then slightly chuckles. I swear to God, his laugh was the most beautiful I had ever heard. "Technically I'm not supposed to do this but, it's on the house. Think of it as a welcome present. So...welcome." He smiled, his perfect teeth all shining a bright white.
"Oh umm thanks." I smiled back, blushing.
"It's no problem, can I get a name?" "Toby." I reply simply.
"Cute name." He winks at me before we part ways.
As I sat, waiting for my drink, I couldn't get the gorgeous Australian out of my mind. His fluffy, sun-bleached brown hair styled in a confident faux hawk, his bright hazel eyes, his sun-kissed tan skin. It was hard to see his body under the bulky green apron, but he seemed to have a nice body from what I could see. He seemed like the kind of guy who didn't have to work at having abs. The kind who played sports just for the fun of it. My kind of guy. I pulled out my notebook only to put it right back in my bag when someone walked over to my table.
"Your absolutely delicious frappuccino, hand made and delivered by yours truly."
I looked up to find the same boy standing over me with a flirtatious look in his amazing eyes. "Oh, uh...thanks, you could have just called my name."
His cheeks flush a soft pink, "Yeah, but you looked deep in thought I didn't want to distract you."
I smirked at him, taking in his adorably embarrassed face while I still could, "Well thanks."
He looked down at the ground and smiled before looking back up and sitting in the seat across from me.
I raised my eyebrows up at him and all he did was smirk before telling me his name, "Beau." He simply said.
"Well hi Beau, i would love to chat but I actually need to get going." I flashed him an apologetic smile, hoping that he would understand that I truly didn't want to leave him.
"No i get it. But first...." He trailed off before grabbing a pen out of his apron pocket and scribbling something on my cup.
He set the cup back down and began to walk away. "Use that." He winks at me, waving "Later Toby."
I looked at my cup to see his phone number with a smiley face next to it. I smirked before grabbing my thinks and heading out.
