Chapter 26 - Pregnant!?

Luke's POV

Three days later I sit in the small chair and hold Leah's hand while I watch her in her sleep. The sleep she has been in for over a month.

I move a piece of her long brown hair and smile slightly at her as if the gesture will wake her up and she would smile back at me before placing a kiss on my cheek. Instead she remains in her dream like state and my smile fades.

I rest my head on hers as I move to lay next to her in the bed and play with her long brown locks. "Hey baby. I miss you and I can't wait for you to open those big brown eyes and look up at me again. I know you will. Life's been hard without you, I had to go back to work but all that's on my mind is you. When you wake up I want to have our wedding because i realized that I can't live another day or even function without you. I love you Leah."

"I love you too," I hear an all too familiar voice say. Leah turns up her head and places a her lips on mine.

"Oh my god you are awake," I say full of excitement as I pull her into my arms. The emotions overwhelm me as she rests her head on my chest and pulls me close to her.

She smiles slightly and looks up at me her hazel eyes meeting mine. "I am and I heard every word. I missed you so much I tried every day to fight for you." She says as she takes my hand in hers and lightly placed a kiss on my cheek. I smile at her and kiss her passionately kiss her before moving off the bed.

"Where are you going?" She asks confused as I move away. "To fell a doctor you are awake. I will be right back. Promise," I say as I smile at her and move out of the door. My walk turns into a run as I see Zoe down the hall and tell her the good news.

Leah's POV

When Luke left the room I hurriedly placed my hand on my stomach trying to see if there were any sighs of my baby still being alive. I smiled as I felts the slight expansion of my abdomen and whispered silently to my baby, "hey little one, I'm your mom and I can't wait to tell daddy all about you."

Soon after a tall woman with long blonde hair and blue eyes walked into the room. "Zoe? What are you doing here?" I ask as I pull her into a hug. "Leah I'm so glad to see you are okay, I'm your doctor I'm just here to do a quick check up and analysis on your condition." She says as she sit in the seat next to my bed. I move my hand to my belly and look at Zoe. "There is someone else that needs to be checked on first," I say with a smirk as her blue eyes look down to my abdomen.

"Oh my god, you're pregnant! Why didn't you tell me?" She says excitedly but also kind of concerned as she quickly pages Dr Matthews.
"I was kind of in a coma," I say with a laugh. "Does he know?" She asks as she listens to my heartbeat and draws some blood. "No I found out only two days before the accident. I didn't know how to tell him," I say honesty as I play with the charm bracelet that still rests on my wrist.

"Okay well you are fine, you recovered surprisingly fast for being out for a month." She says. "A month! My baby you need to see if they are okay," I say worriedly as I instinctively rest my hand on my stomach. "I have paged doctor Matthews she will be here any minute," she says squeezing my hand slightly for reassurance. My mind is going crazy, hoping that he or she is okay I can feel the tears stream down my face soon I can feel Luke wiping them away.

"Hey what's the matter. You should be happy," he says as he wipes more tears away and places a small kiss on my head. I have to tell him before doctor Matthews shows up. It may not be that perfect moment I wanted, but nothing ever is.
"I'm just worried about us." I say with a slight smirk as I look into his brown eyes.
"Us?" he asks in confusion as he moves next to me on the bed and pulls me into his arms. I laugh slightly at his confusion.
"Us." I say as I take his hand and place it on my stomach.
"Your pregnant?" He asks excitedly as he moves his hand along my small bump. I nod and a huge smile appears on his face. "I'm pregnant," I say happily as I pull him into a kiss. He kisses me back before braking it and moving to my belly and kissing it making me giggle slightly. "I'm going to be a dad," he says as he lifts me off the bed and twirls me in his arms. I wince slightly as he accidentally presses on some of my bruises and cuts.

"Careful, I'm still a bit sore and I'm carrying precious cargo," I say with a smile and he gently sets me down just as Dr Matthews walks in the door.

"Hello Leah, Luke , I hope I'm not intruding. I'm am so glad you are awake," she says as she gives me a hug.We have grown close over the last year. "well this little one came as a surprise," she says with a slight smile. I nod and she walks around the the ultrasound machine.

"Well you know how this works I just want to ensure that your coma did not cause any harm to the baby and record the usual data." She says as she squirts the cold jelly onto my stomach. I wince slightly and suddenly I am overwhelmed with emotions and worry for my babies health.

I hold tightly onto Luke and try to prevent myself from crying as I await the fate of our child.

Dr Matthews searches for a heartbeat And with every second that passes I get more concerned. "It shouldn't take this long," I say as I break down in sobs in Luke's arms the all too familiar feeling of his tears landing on my cheek. He wipes them away and tries to give me a reassuring smile but I see right through it.

"Hey look at me," he says as he moves my chin up. "If our baby is anything like it's mother than it is a fighter and it will make it through this," he says as he gently strokes my head. I pathetically cling tighter to him and nod slightly into his shirt as I try to compose myself.

A few agonizing minutes later the sound of our child's heartbeat fills the room and I am overwhelmed with emotions as Dr Matthew turns the screen towards me. "They are fine," I say in relief as I analyze the ultrasound and squeeze Luke's hand tigger in mine as if I let go the whole world will collapse.

Dr Matthews nods and smiles at me. Luke is now crying tears of joy as we witness our child moving on the screen. "Hey little bean," Luke says as he traces the outline of our baby on the screen. I just stare my heart full of love and the hormones getting the best of me as I cry slightly.

"You are about two months along," Dr Matthews says as she takes a picture of our child and prints it out. "Congrats you two," She says with a smile as she walks out the room.

"That's our baby," Luke says in awe as he looks at the picture. I nod and place a hand on my abdomen. He rest his hand on top of mine. "We are going to be parents," I say happily and he pulls me into a passionate kiss as I do.
