Cyrus POV (I know seems kinda ridiculous to write it every time but maybe I'll change my mind)
I was standing in the kitchen, preparing for sandwiches. Since TJ didn't tell me where exactly we're going, I'm gonna prepare for the worst case. Like when if we'd get stuck or something like that. You'll never know. As I was about to finish the last few sandwiches, my mom came into the kitchen.
"I know you probably won't give me the right answer, but you're preparing for some sort of trip for 3 hours now. Sandwiches, Muffins, Cacao, Cyrus are you going on a date?"
Sometimes I hate having psychiatrists as parents. They see right through you. But I'm not gonna make it that easy for my mom.
"Not really, I'm hanging out with TJ. He wants me to show his favourite place in Shadyside."
I hoped my mom would let loose with that answer. Of course, she did not.
"Sounds pretty much like a date to me."
I was shocked and my cheeks slightly turned pink. My facial expression must've been pretty funny, my mom was bursting out in laughter.
"I'm just messing with you Cyrus, C'mon sometimes moms need a good laugh too. I wish you two a good day. Have fun."
"Thanks, mom."
I just wanted to get out of here. I grabbed everything I prepared and walked out of our door like my life was depending on it. While I was getting my bike out of the garage, I went over everything I prepared. I looked one last time on my phone to see if TJ wrote anything new. He didn't, so I'm ready to go. While I was on my way to the old industry area I kept asking myself what TJ wants there. I was there once with Andi and Buffy when we were in third grade but the old caretaker chased us away. I'm pretty sure that I have heard last year how he passed away tho. When I arrived at the sign TJ was talking about, I saw nobody. I looked at my phone and saw that I was 10 minutes early.
"Oh well."
I thought to myself. I checked the Good-Hair-Crew Whatsapp. Of course, I told them that I was going on a date with TJ, I mean how could I not? They wished me a good time similar to my mom, but for some strange reason, I cannot see Buffy not doing any stalking. Like watching us from some sort of bushes with field glasses, just to jump at TJ for any minor mistake. While I was laughing at that thought I saw TJ getting closer to me with his bike. I was just so happy to see him. The feelings I developed for this boy are nothing like I've experienced so far.
"Hey Cyrus, you made it!"
I looked at him quite confused.
"Of course I made it, you asked me out for a date, how could I not come? Anyway, can you tell me now what we're doing here? I thought about it but I really have no clue."
He gave me a smirk before he took out a key of his pocket and unlocked the chains that were put on the big iron gate.
"Where did you get that key from?"
"My great uncle gave me before he passed away. He was the caretaker of this area, after the company that was here went bankrupt."
"Ohh.."
Was the only thing I could say. Suddenly TJ grabbed my hand and walked with me through the area. I completely forgot how old this place was looking. I didn't pay much attention to it when I was here the first time, but now I'm really asking myself what TJ sees in this place. He led me to a spiral staircase which was attached to one of the buildings. I see some of these every now and then when I'm out of town with my parents but I never used one actually. When we got on the top of the building TJ took my hand again and walked almost at the edge of the roof.
