Cyrus POV
The same evening when I was done talking to Andi, her, Buffy and me had a Whatsapp call until late into the night. I'm so glad that we got the confirmation that we could trust her. But we're still not done. We now know Andi most likely didn't commit that act, but who did? To get some more pieces of information, I sent TJ and Amber to the studio where their father works, to check if there was missing photo paper. I was now sitting with TJ at The Spoon to discuss what he found out.
"We were right with our suspicion that the paper was directly used from Finnigan Photos. They noticed the missing paper right from the get-go the next morning, but they didn't think much of it. There was no sign of someone forcefully breaking into the studio, if that had been the case, they would've immediately called the police."
As I was following TJ's report I got some of the baby taters from the basket we share in my mouth. As he was done talking, I took a sip from the milkshake.
"I see. Well, that only makes the whole thing more mysterious. That was our last chance to find someone we could accuse of doing it. Now we have to speculate."
TJ raised an Eyebrow, looking at me in confusion.
"How would you be able to speculate, there are a lot of kids on Jefferson Middle School whose parents are assigned to that studio, that place is doing really good since the new owners took over this summer, I mean I even saw a few parents from the guys of the basketball team."
Now that he was mentioning it, there was something I had to bring up.
"Uhm TJ about that... Have you heard what happened at the team?"
"No, I avoided the whole team. They backstabbed me for literally no reason, why would I care about them?"
I looked to the side and thought about how to word it. But there is no way around it, so I have to tell him directly.
"Well... it seems like after you left... they replaced you with Kira."
You couldn't overlook the shock in his face when I finished my sentence.
"Kira!? But how? There is a girls team, she should've had no possibility to join our team!"
"Well, it seems that they needed to fill the gap and Kira was the only replacement they found."
From shock, his facial expression shifted to anger and disbelief, he was looking away.
"Those guys... I can't believe they would seriously do that!."
"Yeah... we might need a talk with Kira."
His gaze went right back to me as I said that?
"What? Why? What does that have to do with her?"
"Well now that she got into the basketball team, she has a pretty good motive don't you think?"
"Wait, Cyrus stop. I mean I know she's a bit manipulative but this is nuts. Do you actually believe that she'd be capable of planning the expose? No, I cannot believe this."
I understand his hesitation, he probably still feels guilty about dumping her just like that. But I have to do something.
"Look, I don't want it to be true either but we have to at least ask her what she knows. Maybe someone of the basketball team said something. After all, you just said, some of the parents work in the studio."
"Yeah that may be true but I don't think she'd be willingly talking to us."
"Don't worry about it Teej, I have a plan."
I say while somewhat being proud of myself for having a plan.
"A plan? Then you might wanna say, I would have no idea how to get her to talk."
"You see, we don't have anymore clues left, so why don't we hold some sort of trial. Like a class trial, where everyone who worked on the case lays down their accounts."
"A class trial? And how do you think this will help us to find out who did it? It's not like Kira would talk to all us, how do you get the idea she would talk there?"
"Remember what Maxwell said after the incident? If there is something he could help us with he'd do it. We just gather everyone who was involved in an empty classroom and we're good to go. If Maxwell says she has to cooperate, I hardly doubt she could do anything against it."
Telling by his face what I say must come out of nowhere for TJ. Truth to be told I got this idea from a video game but I didn't dare to tell him, he'd probably laugh. Welp, he will probably now laugh too. I mean it's not like we had judicial power, we're just a bunch of middle schoolers. But then he suddenly took my hands that were on the table and held them.
"Ok. If that's really what you wanna go for, then let's do it. We don't have anything to lose right. I believe in you, Cyrus. You're the one who showed me how important it is to have hope. If that is your hope I'm gonna support you 'til the very end. Leave the preparations to me!"
I can not tell you how much this meant to me. I'm used to be pretty much left alone with my weird ideas. As a kid, I would act on them regardless but Buffy was the voice of reason who stopped me on that. Over time I did my best to push these idiotic ideas out of my head, but TJ is having none of it. I still remember one of the first things he said to me and Buffy.
"Hey don't tell him what he can't do."
I guess that's all there is to it. With that in mind, the days passed on. TJ really managed to arrange everything with Maxwell. The class trial is gonna be held, so I better get there prepared!
A/N: You guys have no idea how hard it was to write that last chapter before the trial. I had no idea how to put into words to get the cast into that specific scenario. But oh well I did it nonetheless. I don't have much to say about this chapter so just buckle your seatbelt for the next chapters, it's gonna be a ride. Also don't forget, to comment and vote on this chapter as always. Thank you :)
P.S. HOW DID WE GET 3,5K READS? WTF YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING :D I never expected to get that much attention but oh well it's happening, so I'm gonna work hard to not let you guys down :D
