2 hours later Jess, Dave, Les, and Jack finally had a moment alone.
"Are you gonna explain yourself now?" Davey asked, obviously impatient.
"Gimmie a sec, Spot's got spies watching his spy and I gotta tell 'em off." Jess said quickly.
"Cobblestone, Hitch! I know that ya hidin' out there! Don't make me tell Spot that I found you out!" she shouted.
After a few moments silence, a bush rustled and two small boys walked out from behind it.
They walked towards Jess, their eyes trained on the ground.
"Go back to Brooklyn. Spy on Spot. See if he notices. Don't come back to see me until he does." she said.
Jess knew that Spot would have no idea that he was being spied on.
Once both boys were out of earshot, Jack leaned in and asked "How did ya know you'se was bein' spied on?"
Spot's best spy should probably know when she's gettin' spied on."
"You're a spy!?" Davey asked.
"No, Spot just sent me here 'cause he felt like it." she said sarcastically.
"Anyway, ya still want me ta explain, or what?"
Davey nodded emphatically.
"Well, it started off as me and Jack just messin' around. Then your friends came over and I had ta keep my reputation in check." she explained.
Davey looked in Jack's direction for a confirmation.
Jack shrugged and nodded.
An awkward silence enveloped the small group for several long minutes.
Finally, Jack spoke up. "Hey, Jess?" He asked.
"Yeah?"
"We're going to Tibby's tonight. You wanna come? Think of it as a truce for earlier." he said.
"Jacky-boy, you know I would have to bring my boys if I was gonna come." Jess explained.
"Then bring 'em. It's been a while since Manhattan and Brooklyn hung out." Jack offered.
"Alright! I'll go tell Spot now!" And with that, she took off running towards the Brooklyn Bridge.
