Yesterday felt like it had all been a dream, a dream Emerald dreadfully wanted to wake up from. Sure, Oscar had sung a song about her and given her his personal number, but the fact that he still didn't recognize her uneased her. She didn't know why she felt like this but it sure was an unusual feeling. Clicking onto Instagram, she refreshed and scrolled, liking the occasional photo of her friends and celebrities. Not realising she was still flicking through, she looked down at her screen as her finger hovered over it. Oscar had posted a picture. With Livvy. 'When you're trying to get over someone, make sure you have good friends by your side ;)'. What were they doing together? And what on earth was this caption? Oscar literally just sang a song about her, what was he doing now? And how did Livvy know him so well?

"Livvy!" Emerald shouted,

"Yes?" Livvy yelled back from downstairs.

"Come upstairs!"

A moment later Livvy appeared at her door and beamed at her, "Morning sunshine," her smile dropped, "you look like you haven't slept a wink."

Emerald grumbled in response, "Yeah. I didn't sleep too well. Anyway I wanted to ask, how do you know Oscar so well?"

Livvy looked sheepish and glanced at the floor, before she flopped onto the bed next to Emerald. "Well, my cousin is friends with him and so we met at a business dinner."

"Why didn't you tell me?" Emerald asked curiously, and slightly annoyed.

"I didn't want you to be jealous that I knew a popstar, so I shut my mouth." Livvy said the words so light-heartedly, but she didn't know that they stung Emerald.

"I wouldn't have gotten jealous."

"I know, sorry." Livvy apologized, except it didn't sound all too genuine to Emerald. Maybe Livvy was a different person to what her first impression of her was. Suddenly she remembered something,

"Liv, why did you get Oscar's number again if you would already have it?"

Livvy grinned, "Oh, I got his business number because I'm considering to work with him on a new project!" Emerald internally frowned, this definitely meant that she had his personal number too. It also explained why she started to like him, because who could fall for someone on their first meeting? Emerald was definitely a not a believer of 'love at first sight'.

"I've got to get ready for work now." She stated plainly, trying not to sound as cold as she felt. Livvy nodded and bounced out of the room, unaware of Emerald's now stormy mood. Emerald groaned and glanced at her clock. Crap. She was going to be late. Mr C would not be happy.

----

"Late?"

Emerald hung her head, extremely embarrassed. "I'm so sorry sir. I had some uh- family troubles."

Mr C massaged his temples but nodded, "OK. Just don't let it happen again. Anyway, I have your first job for an event tonight." Emerald nodded as he continued, "I need you as my plus one, because I also need you to take photos for our company."

Emerald eagerly nodded, "I won't let you down sir." Mr C didn't glance up but nodded in response. As she turned to leave Mr C grabbed her arm, before he abruptly dropped it and awkwardly looked at her.

"Don't forget to wear something nice. It's a semi-formal dinner." Emerald nodded again as he sat back down. The contact of his hand on her arm felt oddly familiar, and unusual tingles shot up her arm. Brushing them away, she hurried off to her desk. Emerald was slightly excited yet nervous for tonight, and hoped she wouldn't make a fool of herself. The touch of Mr C's arm floated back into her mind and she internally cringed at herself. Me and my boss? The person that looks down on me and thinks I can't do anything? No way. Emerald shuddered and focused at the task at hand, sorting out the stack of papers a rushed looking assistant had just plonked onto her desk. Her phone buzzed with a message, and glancing down, her eyes widened. It seemed that Mr C had messaged her.
