The car stopped, the door flew open and Emerald was met with a stony faced CEO. Tightly gripping the door with one hand, his other covered his forehead.

"What are you doing with him?" Mr C demanded, a frown creasing his forehead.

Emerald was slightly scared as to why he was so aggravated over this, "He's an old friend of mine." She replied simply.

"He's dangerous, and a player."

"Why do you care so much?"

Mr C's frown turned into a scowl and he let go of the car door, "Fine, get hurt for all I care." Slamming the door in her face, Emerald watched him stalk off back towards the office and disappear into the sleek building. Her Uber driver turned around to face her and gave her a wry grin.

"Boyfriend problems?"

Emerald nearly choked on her saliva, "Gosh no, he's my boss."

The man smiled knowingly, "He seems to fancy you though."

"I don't really know with him. It seems complicated." she shrugged and gave a sad smile. After a brief yet meaningful chat with her Uber, she decided to get out and walk home. The wind was starting to pick up and whipped harshly around her shoulders as she walked along the desolate street path. It was now late at night and she didn't expect anyone to be out in the cold, especially since there had just been a storm. Feeling extremely exhausted and down, Emerald decided to call Livvy and ask if she could pick her up. Livvy's cousin had just bought her a car, since she kept bugging him to drive her around although she had a license.

"Livvy," Emerald sighed into her phone, "Can you pick me up? I'm on the corner of Second Avenue." Relieved that Livvy was coming to pick her up, she sank onto the concrete and clicked onto Oscar's Instagram page. Fans were spamming his newest post with thousands of comments, mostly curious ones as to who the mystery girl was. Emerald zoomed in on the photo and squinted her eyes at the background. Oscar had taken a selfie in the coffee shop and she could see the back of her head blurred in the background. Scrolling through the comments, she stopped at one posted by none other than @livcoleman17.

livcoleman17: heyyyyy who's that girl that's not me? :(((

Speak of the devil. Livvy pulled up at the side of the street and Emerald hopped in.

"Long day?" Livvy glanced at her and smiled before training her eyes on the road once again.

"Kind of." Emerald shrugged, before she groaned and turned up the radio. "I came to New York to have a peaceful life and start a new chapter. Not get caught in old things!"

Livvy looked shocked at this sudden outburst, "Hey, hey, Emerald you alright?"

"Peachy." Emerald forced a smile.

"Okay..." Livvy trailed off uncertainly. Emerald closed her eyes and the rest of the ride back to the apartment was silent. Apart from the tinkering sound of piano in the background.

Emerald flipped open her laptop as she snuggled under her covers. A worn out face with mangled hair stared straight back at her. A message popped up on her fan account email, a message from Oscar to be exact.

Oscar Dayton: the photos are up on my website! they look great :D

Miss Shadow: oh really? i'll go check them out

Emerald clicked onto the link Oscar had sent her and gasped at the screen before her. His editing team had done a great job of making her already good photos even better. There was thousands of likes and comments as well from thrilled fans. They were loving her photography.

Miss Shadow: they look even better!

Oscar Dayton: all thanks to you

Miss Shadow: i saw those articles about your newest mystery girl

Oscar Dayton: haha...

Miss Shadow: is she your girlfriend?

Oscar Dayton: nah. she's an old friend actually.

Emerald decided to go out on a long shot.

Miss Shadow: you wish she was more than a friend?

Oscar Dayton: sometimes, she's great and all, but there's plenty of fish in the sea ya know :p

Miss Shadow:  player vibes much...

Oscar Dayton: nah i'm just kidding, i'm really confused about how i feel about her.

Emerald pushed her computer to the edge of her bed and closed her eyes in thought? Why was Oscar being so confusing? His feelings for her seemed to be all over the place. One day he was all over her and the next he was distant. This was just too much. Ping! Emerald glanced at her laptop again.

Oscar Dayton: please don't tell anyone about this. i trust you.

Miss Shadow: yeah of course not.

Emerald decided that it was a good time to sleep. 11 PM flashed on her phone screen and she felt extremely tired from the day's antics. Hopefully tomorrow would bring a new day with no crazy happenings. With this in mind, Emerald drifted off into a restless sleep, angry CEO's and player-like singers clouding her dreams.

Note: I felt it would be better to end the chapter here and start a new one for the next part of the story, sorry for the really short update :(
