Three hours before...
Emerald had just left Mr C's house and he breathed a sigh of relief. The morning had been somewhat close to hectic, and he'd expected a normal relaxing day, or morning to be specific. He would walk to that store which sold his favourite coffee, read the morning paper and hit the gym for a quick session before work started. Instead he had to help out Miss Chan and get himself into this- mess? Was it really a mess, though? He couldn't deny the sparks that were flying between them and the uncomfortable vibes he got. She reminded him so closely of someone, he just couldn't put his finger on it. Did he like her as well? He couldn't tell, his feelings were jumbled up and it had been many years since he had opened up to someone. His deep thoughts were interrupted by the ding! of his doorbell.
"Who is it?" Mr C called out.
"Just me!" Came a familiar voice. Mr C sprung up from the kitchen counter and walked to the door. Opening it, he was met with the face of his cleaner. An old, smiling lady that he had known for a long time.
"Mrs Fitz!" Mr C enveloped the small lady in a bear hug, "Long time no see!" He joked.
"Nonsense. I came to clean your apartment last week, you cheeky bugger." She tutted, smacking him lightly on the shoulder. As she stepped back, a small smirk played on her lips. "You got a girlfriend now, aye? I saw a harried looking girl run out of your apartment. In her pyjamas." She laughed, accentuating the word 'pyjamas'.
A tint of red appeared on Mr C's cheeks and he shrugged, "She's just a colleague and I was helping her because she cut herself."
"What a nice gentleman you are." Peering past him into his apartment, her mouth widened. "You don't need me to clean up anymore! Your apartment looks perfectly neat!"
Mr C beckoned for her to come inside, "Well just have a look around to make sure everything is fine. I'll duck into my room to change and freshen up." Many a time Mrs Fitz had cleaned his house when he was not around so he trusted her to tidy things up while he wasn't there. 15 minutes later he emerged from his room, hair brushed and gym clothes thrown on. Mrs Fitz had gone, but left a note which read: 'Your house was mostly clean apart from the floor which I quickly vacuumed. I must be off to see my nephew at his work today. Toodles! Mrs Fitz.' The note was written in her signature, overly curly writing and Mr C smiled to himself. Mrs Fitz was a real gem.

Present time...
Emerald stifled her tears as she walked to her car. Fired? Mr C had fired her with absolutely no proof or reasoning, and a burning anger filled Emerald's chest. She knew that she wasn't the culprit, and she would never steal something from anyone. Especially her boss. Gritting her teeth as she flung open her car door, she sighed to herself. She dreadfully wanted to find who actually stole those important documents. Not so that she could get her job back, but so that she could prove that stone-cold CEO wrong. These ambitious thoughts clouded Emerald's head as she sped down the highway to home, nearly speeding through a couple of red lights. Bursting in the door and rushing into the kitchen to find Livvy, Emerald found Livvy still asleep on the couch. The glass of water Emerald had given her in the morning had been downed for the most part, and Livvy seemed to be completely knocked out. Buzz! Livvy's phone vibrated and Emerald swiftly answered it, not bothering to look at the caller ID.
"Hello?"
"Livvvyyyy!" An excited voice replied back. Emerald was about to say that it was not Livvy at the phone, but the person started to talk again. "Livvy, last night was insane! We totally have to do that again sometime."
"This isn't Livvy."
"Oh." The voice fell. "Who is it may I ask?"
"Uh, it's Livvy's roommate." Emerald stuttered.
"Oh hey there! Can you tell Livvy to give me a call back when she's around? Thank you so much."
Emerald replied 'ok' and ended the call. Wait, hold on. Pressing onto the 'recent calls' tab on Livvy's phone, the most recent caller was none other than Oscar Dayton. What? That didn't make any sense at all, Oscar didn't sound like that.

Emerald woke up with a start as she felt a cold hand touch her forehead. Opening her eyes groggily, she stared into the concerned eyes of her roommate.
"You okay, Em?" Livvy asked as she squinted her eyes at Emerald.
Emerald propped herself up and rubbed her eyes, "Yeah, I'm okay. What makes you ask?"
"Well. It's 2 PM and you should be at work." Livvy crossed her arms and looked at Emerald expectantly.
"Oh my goodness!" Emerald exclaimed, "How long was I out for? My memory is so bad now."
Livvy rolled her eyes and sat down on the bed, "A couple of hours maybe, I remember you making a lot of noise when you came back." Livvy jokingly huffed, "You woke me up."
"Sorry," Emerald said slowly, "Someone was calling you." She frowned, "And also your cousin fired me wrongly, he didn't even have any evidence!"
Livvy gasped, "Cole did that?"
Emerald nodded, noting that she called Mr C 'Cole'. "Yes. He accused me of stealing these important documents, just because I was the only one that had recently gone to his house!"
"Hold up," Livvy's brows furrowed, "You went to his house?!"
"No, NO! Not like that." She groaned, "It's a long story."
"Well it's a story I'd like to hear another day..." Murmured Livvy, "Anyway, we have to find out who actually stole those papers!" Emerald firmly nodded her head in agreement, internally thinking the same thing. Livvy got up from her spot on Emerald's bed and whipped out her phone. Dialling a number and starting to chat to the other person on the line, Emerald hugged her pillow and waited for Livvy to finish her call.
"It's all set up!" Exclaimed Livvy a couple of minutes after, "I set up an appointment with the receptionist so that we can try and find out what those papers actually were."
"Good idea..." Mumbled Emerald, "I suppose we do need to figure out what we're looking for first."
Livvy nodded and hurried Emerald to get ready, "We're leaving in fifteen."
"Okay, I hear you." Emerald jumped out of bed and walked to her bathroom to get ready. Splashing her face with icy water, she looked at her determined expression that was reflected in the mirror. She nodded to herself resolutely, justice was a dish best served cold.
