Chapter 7: Andi
Of the much wisdom that I’ve gained throughout my years as a spy, “expect the unexpected” was one of the most important ones. For example, when I was fifteen, I was sent to South Korea’s military base to spy on their plan for bombing America. Little did I know that Koreans have their own spy that spied on me. She was about my age, and was my sort-of friend, but even though her mission was to kill me, she never did. Instead, she helped me barely escape and transported me back to America. She helped me even though she knew that she can die by doing so. She had put friendship above duty, and that just made things more dangerous for both of us.
Anyway, back to reality. It has been three days since the bomb threat, and the Peirce seems to believe that everything will be okay, but I, on the other hand, know that this is not the end. Everything now seems to be incomprehensible since it was hard to understand why Anna would try to kill us if she’s not in Black Venom. She’s an assassin, who seems to have her own set of rules, don’t follow a group. This doesn’t add up somehow.
“Andi?” I turned my head towards the voice and saw Eliza coming towards me with open arms.
I hugged her and she looked at me with a look with total trust and love on her face. She looks exactly just like Chase when she did that and I broke my heart somehow.
“Hey, sweetie,” I said and she smiled.
“Daddy said to tell you that we are going to our other house. He said to pack because we’re leaving tonight,” she told me and I nodded distractedly.
It was just a few days ago that I told them it would be safer if they were to go and live in another place for awhile, and it seems like today would be the day to move.
“Alright then, let’s go,” I carried her upstairs and set her down in her room and helped her pack her stuff. After that was done, I walked to my room and take out my necessities. Those being clothes, my combat boots, and of course, weapons.
I was about grab my keys when I my phone went off. I picked it up and froze, looking at the unknown number with a suspicious feeling that only danger can conjure. I pressed the answer button and said, “Looks like someone got my number. Tell me, Anna, how did you find out?”
Anna chuckled and replied, “You know exactly how I got it since you and I are so similar that we can be sisters.”
I kept my tone cool, “Great, and how are we alike exactly?
She sighed, “Like you don’t know. I know that you know my identity. And it’s obvious that I know who you are too.”
“I think we’ve established that a minute ago. Now, would you please tell me why you tried to kill us, it would make my life much peachier.”
She chuckled, “Why don’t we meet first. After all, you need information, so you play by my rules.”
I growled, “I don’t play by anyone’s rules. Like you said, I’m just like you, Anna, and I am not someone who likes being bossed around.”
I could hear the smirk in her voice when she said, “Now, now. Don’t get worked up. Just meet me Libby Park in one hour.”
“And if I don’t?” I hissed.
“Your loss. This is your only chance to find information, spy, and trust me, you would not want to miss this.”
With that, she hung up, and I breathe deeply just to regain my composure and sighed. Anna wants us to meet. I don’t know about you, but a spy and an assassin next to each other can be a little dangerous. Although most can’t tell the difference between a spy and an assassin, the differences are there. Spies are usually involved in espionage cases that involved stealing information, going undercover, and sometimes killing to get the information. Occasionally, they have a mission that involves protecting their assignment also. Assassins, on the other hand, have missions that involve killing people because they are paid, assigned, or just felt like it. But other than that, spies and assassins are shoulder to shoulder, something that irritates everyone.
