Chapter 9: Andi

Once Chase walked out the door, I heard the engine of his car start and he burned rubber out of the driveway. I stared at the wall, wondering if breaking up with him was a mistake that I will have to pay for later. A groan interrupted my thoughts and I pushed Chase aside, bracing myself for what is to come pretty soon.

“Shit,” Anna cursed and I stood up from where I sat and stand next to her on the bedside.

“I see you’re awake,” I commented and she glared at me with a fiery passion that said she would kill me right now.

“What the fuck do you want?” she hissed and I smiled slightly.

“Answers,” as I said that, she glared and let out a string of profanities at me. Damn, that was at least fifteen curse words, all in different languages.

“Anna, you are in no shape to fight it,” I nodded at her handcuffs.

“Now, if I were you, I would answer or I would have to call my boss so he can do the questioning. And trust me, you don’t want to face him,” I told her matter of factly and she glared.

I sighed and pulled a chair so I could sit next to her, keeping my eyes on her the whole time.

We stared at each other for a moment, testing, when she finally sighed and gave in.

“As you know, I’m an assassin. Actually, I used to be in Black Venom, one of their greatest assassins that they’ve had.  For 8 years, since I was 9, I was in the facility, training and learning to kill. During that time, I began to fall in love with one of the recruits. His name was Michael Hale, and he was also one of their best. However, I was better than he was. We finally both began to date for awhile, and everything was good. I accomplished my missions, while he would back me up. That was until we both assigned a mission where we would have to kill an old man that supposedly worked for the FBI. I was fixed on killing him, but Michael couldn’t do it. He claimed that the old man was innocent and he backed out of the mission, leaving me no choice but backing out with him. However, Black Venom does not tolerate any fail missions, so they took Michael to a secret place where “traitors” are to be tortured. I tried getting him out, but couldn’t. That was until Black Venom made me a deal. If I could capture the Peirce’s family, they will set Michael free. I thought it was going to be easy, but I was wrong,” Anna said with tears falling from her eyes.

I stared at Anna in awed, “They didn’t tell you I’m going to be there, did they?”

She shook her head, “I was surprise, but I thought you would be easy to get rid of. I guess that’s a lie.”

I smiled slightly, but frowned when a thought came to me. “What the hell do they want with the Pierce?”

She sighed and shook her head, “From what I can guess, they want to kill the Pierce. You know the Pierce have a great influence and one of the most power family in America. With them dead, it will erase a powerful family, and take them a step closer to world domination.”

“So where is Michael now?” I asked her and she looked at me with sad eyes.

“He’s at their base, Fairfax, Virginia,” she whispered and I nodded, deep in thought.

“Anna, if you want to rescue Michael, then you can’t do this alone. I’m not going to let you kidnap my family, but I will help you with rescuing Michael,” I announced.

Anna stared at me shocked, “Why are you helping me? I’ve been a total bitch to you and almost killed Chase.”

I stared at her, “Because I understand how you would feel. If something like that happened to Chase, I would raise hell to get him back.”

“You don’t understand though. Black Venom is impossible to get through. They’ve got loaded weapons at every inch, not to mentions the fact that they’re a terrorist group who seems determined to bring the government down.”

I smiled at her and said, “Well, for a normal person, that would be impossible. But for a well trained spy and assassin, it would be less impossible. “

We stared at one another and she broke out into a genuine smile.

“Then let’s do this. We need to plan this thoroughly before we go there,” she said and I nodded in agreement.

I unlocked her handcuff and she sat on the bed, rubbing her wrists which were red from the strain. I smiled apologetically and was about to say something when my phone beeped.

It was  text message from Chase.

I opened it and my heart stopped.

I’ll be gone for a few months, so don’t worry about me. I’ve been thinking about what you said and I agree with you. You and I won’t work because I’m not like you, Andi. But don’t worry, when I come back, I will be different. Tell my family not to worry about me, and take care of them for me. Even though were not together, just know that you will always be in my heart, and a piece of my heart is with you. Take care of it. Always and forever, I love you, Andi, even if you can’t love me. But soon, that will all change.

I dropped my phone, but in a flash, Anna caught it before it hit the floor.

“Andi? What’s wrong?” she asked, and warily looked around the room for any signs that could of triggered this reaction from me.

“Chase is planning to become one of us,” I whispered, and we looked at each other in shock.
