Chapter 8: Chase
I felt the knife right in front of my throat, taunting me with its sharp point. Anna’s hold on it was relaxed, but I knew that I can change within a few seconds, and those seconds will be my death.
“What? No comment, Andi?” Anna asked menacingly although her eyes were on me the whole time.
I looked at Andi, and with my eyes, I did my best to tell her to let me go. I would rather I die from getting a knife through me throat than letting Andi or any of my family suffer.
“What do you want?” Andi asked.
Anna laughed then, and she replied, “Let me see how I can put this nicely. I want all of the Peirce to come with me, alive.”
“Over my dead body,” Andi snapped.
“You shouldn’t be saying that or else I will be tempted to kill you, Andi,” the bitch snapped, but her hold on the knife never wavered.
“Now, I want you and Chase to follow me. Quietly, if you please and then we’ll meet up with the rest of the Peirce,” Anna said almost happily and narrowed my eyes on her.
“Fine,” Andi said in a resigned tone and I stood up carefully, the knife is still right in front of me like a big danger sign.
“Let’s go, then,” Anna replied and she took that moment to shot a glance towards Andi.
I took that moment to shoot my hands towards her arm and pried the knife away from her hands, cutting my hands in the process. Although the pain felt unbearable, I ignored it and twisted Anna’s arm behind her back. Andi quickly tried punched Anna, hard and fast, but Anna ducked, so Andi’s punch hit me instead. Damn, it was unexpected and the impact threw me off, releasing Anna.
I fell, and Anna tried to evade Andi, but Andi never flinched and continued to throw punches and kicks. Anna evened up, and soon, those two began to throws skilled attacks at one another. They looked both tired, but soon, Anna had Andi pinned on the ground. I was about to go help, when I saw Andi head butted Anna, finishing off with a powerful kick in the stomach that sent Anna sprawling onto the floor.
Andi crouched down to Anna’s level and said, “You remember the bet in the very beginning? I won, so now you will tell me what I need to know.”
Andi’s voice was absolute frightening and cold that I tried not to shiver. Andi took out a green bottle which I believe is to be chloroform and a small piece of fabric. She covered Anna’s nose and Anna fell asleep.
“You okay?” Andi asked me and I nodded.
“Let’s go,” she said and took Anna’s body into her arms, leading us out of this park and into her car.
“Take your car and let’s go find your family,” she suggested and I nodded along.
The ride to our other house took about fifteen minutes and once we got there, my family ran out to see if were okay.
“Chase! What happened to you?” Mom screeched and I shrugged.
“Just bruises,” I responded and I saw Andi looked at me in concern.
“Is that Anna?” my father asked and Andi nodded.
“I have some questions to ask her,” Andi said and my dad nodded, leading us into the house.
The house resembles our other mansion, except this one is more proportionate. Andi took Anna upstairs and I followed her into an empty room. Andi put Anna on the bed and took out handcuffs in her weapons bag. She handcuffed Anna onto the metal head board and finally sank down against the wall.
I was about to say something when she muttered, “What you did today was incredibly stupid.”
“I know, but I had to know that you were safe,” I responded.
“Chase, I know you worry, but you shouldn’t. I’m fine; it’s you I’m worried about. I’m trained for this, you’re not,” she looked beseechingly at me.
“I know that, Andi. But how do you thing I would feel if I know you were out there fighting alone, against assassins, I might add,” I snapped.
“You have to understand that you have nothing to worry about. I’m a spy, I went to millions of dangerous missions and assignments before,” she begged.
“Yeah, but that was before I met you,” I whispered and she flinched.
“Chase, please don’t get attached to me. I’ve seen this before, and in a relationship where the civilian gets too close and too attached, he or she will die. I can’t let his happen to you. I’ve been trying not to think about our future, but I’ve facing it now. I can’t do this, Chase. What happened today proves that you can die just by being with me,” tears were now flowing freely down her face and she began to cry.
I slid down next to her and hugged her tight into my chest, feeling the ache of my hear on what she’s saying.
“Please, Andi, don’t do this,” I begged her.
She shook her head, “Out of my entire missions that I been assigned to complete, this mission, falling in love, is impossible. To love someone, is to kill them, and I love you too much to let this happen to you. I’m sorry, but I rather you live then die because of love.”
I look at her face, seeing the truth in her eyes that broke my heart into a thousand of pieces. I shook my head and stood up, walking out the door that held the love of my life in there. I walked out the door and got in my car, driving to a place that once got me in trouble not too long ago. The Black Mamba Bar and Club was still opened and I parked the car, walking in at the chicks lining up checked me out. I gave them winks and walked up to the bouncer.
“Get in line like the rest of the people,” he snapped and I took out a five bills of one hundreds and handed it to him.
H e took the money, and waved me in, and I was hit by the blaring music. I haven’t been here since forever, and it felt nice to be back. I was headed towards the bar when a girl stumbled into me. She was tall with long blonde hair and looked up at me with a flirty smile.
“Hey, there, sexy,” she purred and I grinned back. The player side of me seems to break free and I winked.
“Care to dance, gorgeous?” I asked smoothly and she giggled, leading me to the dancefloor.
She was a good grinder, that’s for sure, and we danced to a couple of songs before I felt a strong arm pushing me onto the ground. I look up to see a guy about my age glaring at me while putting a protective arm around the blonde girl.
“What the hell are you doing with my girlfriend?” he growled and I smirked and got up.
“Why don’t you ask your girlfriend that?” I snapped and he lunged for my jaw. I dodged it and soon, both of us were punching each other.
I felt arms pulling me back and I look up to see police officers surrounding us. I felt handcuffs around me and the officer pulled me into his car, while I yelled a string of profanities at them.
I sighed and then I heard a voice next to me.
“Hello, Chase Peirce,” he said and I looked at him.
“What the fuck? Who are you and how the hell did you know my name?” I snapped and he chuckled.
The police officer that brought me in disappeared, so I was along in this.
“Relax, I’m not here to hurt you. I’m here to offer you something,” he said.
“What?” I asked.
“I know you are involved with that spy, Andi Carson and I know that you and she can’t have a relationship,” he continued and I felt the urge to punch the crap out of this guy.
“But there is one way you can,” he continued and I froze, tensed for what he is going to say.
“Become a spy just like her,” he finally said and I looked at him.
“Who are you?”
He chuckled, “I’m Ray, Andi’s boss. Nice to meet you.”
