Chapter 6: Chase

Assassin, she had said. Anna is an assassin, whose assignment is to kill my family. My childhood girlfriend is an assassin. Somehow, wrapping my head around that fact is too difficult to accomplish. I mean, I have a spy as a girlfriend, and an ex-girlfriend that is an assassin. What the hell is wrong with my life? Actually, there is nothing wrong with Andi, but having a relationship with a girl that can kill someone without flinching can get a little scary. Add to the fact that my ex-girlfriend has just tried to bomb us through a cake.

“Hey, you okay?” a voice asked from behind me and I turned around to see Andi walking towards me in her usual black gear of jeans and leather jacket.

“Yeah, just hard to wrap my heard around it you know,” I answered and she sat across from me on the picnic table.

She smiled softly at me and I had to admire her figure. She resembles a beautiful dark angel, in dark clothing, but with a look that can kill.

“Are you sure that Anna is an assassin?” I asked her again, afraid of her answer.

“I don’t know, am I really a spy?” she asked me back.

I shrugged and she responded, “Chase, everything in this world in not concrete. This world is as biased as anything. Not everything has to be black or white. Sometimes, there are shades of gray in between.”

“What are you trying to say?” I asked her.

“I’m trying to say that you can’t assume someone or something is permanent based how they are or what they look like,” she said softly.

“Take Kristy for example. She’s pretty and a bitch, but now, she had changed from all of the experiences of losing a friend, a brother, and a boyfriend.”

“She’s stronger,” I said and Andi nodded.

“Chase, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. That’s my motto for the last fourteen years,” Andi solemnly said.

I nodded, deep in thought about what she said. Have I grown stronger ever since I met Andi? I don’t know the answer to that question, but I do now that Andi had really opened my eyes for the first time. Ever since Anna cheated on me and moved, I became a player where every girl wanted me and every guy wished to be me. Having the money and looks helped too. But then, I met Andi., my sister’s teenage bodyguard, who is stubborn, fierce, loyal, and totally and completely badass. Next to her, I’m nothing. Will I ever be good enough for her, or will I be worthless, with her saving me all the time.

“Come on, stop moping,” Andi interrupted my thoughts and I couldn’t help but smile at her.

From her expression, I could tell that my smile doesn’t reach my eyes. Having an observant girlfriend sucks sometimes.

“Chase, what in the world are you thinking about?” Andi demanded.

“Don’t worry about it,” I said evasively, and I can tell that she’s considering throwing me into the pool right now.

“Fine, don’t’ tell me,” she said and got up to walk inside.

Immediately, I extended my arm and pull her onto my lap. She looked at me curiously, and I just smirked.

“I’m thinking about you, okay?” I whispered and she shook her head like she couldn’t believe it.

To distract, I met my lips with hers and together, our lips moved in synch with one another. Before I long, we were making out, and I immediately stood up and grab her hand to walk her inside. We walked upstairs and into my room, where there is more privacy than Andi’s room. Shutting the door behind us, I’m ready to leave behind reality for awhile to spend some time with my personal dark angel.
