Hi:)) update on the Steve Harrington book, I so far have 3 chapters completed and am almost done with the fourth, about how many chapters do you guys want me to have before I start making it public??

This is based off an interview where Joe revealed that he had highlights in season three so this imagine is the process of doing that, I thought it'd be cute.
"Babe?" You heard Joe call out from the hallway, walking into the room where you watching TV. You paused your show and turned to him, "Yeah?" You asked sitting up from your previous position of lying down. "So the duffer brothers want me to get highlights for the new season." Joe said, leaving you sort've confused. "Highlights?" "Yeah, like hair highlights." Joe explained, "why?" You asked, making Joe shrug, "I don't know, they think it'll make Steve look like more in the summertime I don't know!" He said once he saw you start laughing at his explanation.
"Anyways, your a girl. I figured you'd know how to do hair." Joe explained, making you laugh, "not the fact that I'm an actual hair dresser?" You asked standing up and tying your hair up. "Well- I- Yeah that too." Joe said awkwardly, making you laugh. "Yes, I'll help you. We'll have to pass by the salon to pick some stuff up." You answered, Joe nodding and giving you a kiss. "Thank you, I love you." He smiled.

You both walked into the busy salon that you worked at, seeing all the clients and your friends working on hair. "Hey Y/N. Today's your day off isn't it?" Your boss Amy said from behind the counter. "Yeah, but I have to help this one he needs some work done on his hair for his next project." You answered pointing back at Joe who chuckled and nodded. "Ahh okay, we'll go ahead and take anything you need." Amy said with a smile. You grabbed Joe's hand lead him to the back of the salon into the storage room where all the extra products were. "Okay we need bleach, brushes, a bowel, and toner." You mumbled going down the aisles collecting all the supplies, handing them down to Joe.
After collecting everything you both made your way back home. You instructed Steve to change into some old shirt while you set up in the bathroom, mixing what you had to and setting up a chair. Joe came in and sat down on the chair. "How are they going to style your hair?" You asked running your hands through his hair.
Joe only let you touch his hair, no one else was allowed. He didn't mind if you messed it up or ran your fingers through it, but anyone else he'd yell at.
If he needed a trim he'd go to you because he liked how you did his hair.
"Just combed back I guess." He shrugged looking at you through the mirror, you ran your fingers through his hair styling it messily like how it usually is in the show. "You're so cute." You smiled through the mirror at Joe. Who blushed lightly and nudged your waist, "Stop." He said with a smile, you leaned over his shoulder and kissed him on the lips. "Okay lets do your hair before I get distracted." You chuckled, standing up straight and grabbing some gloves, putting them on. You messed around with Joe's hair figuring out where to put the highlights before grabbing the bleach and brush, dipping the brush and getting a little bit, brushing it into his hair and blending it out. Grabbing a small cube of foil, and wrapping it once she was sure it was evenly distributed.
"How long is this gonna take?" Joe mumbled, you shaking your head, "A while Keery." You answered before moving onto the next strand.

You and Joe were talking and laughing as you finished up the last strand. His whole head covered in tin foil. "You look hot." You joked, wrapping the strand in the last cube of foil. "I should just go on TV like this." He commented back bring a smile onto your face. "We leave that in for 15 minutes, then wash your hair and add a toner to even the color out and then we're done." You explained with a smile, Joe sighing. "Wow that's a long process." He said, standing up and stretching his back out. You came up behind him and sneaked your hands under his shirt rubbing his back soothingly, he sighed in content and leaned into your touch. "Your hands are warm." He stated immediately relaxing in your hands. You smiled and laid your head at the bottom of his neck. As you continued to massage his tense back.
You both ended up watching TV by the time the 15 minutes were up. "Okay lets go to the sink so I can wash that out." You said standing up and leading Joe to the sink, where he sat on the chair and laid back leaving only his head over the sink.
You unwrapped all the foils revealing streaks of blonde in Joe's hair, but the toner would even it out and make it more of a caramel color. You wet his hair and grabbed a color lasting shampoo massaging his scalp with it. "Wow babe, you give good scalp massages." Joe mumbled closing his eyes and enjoying the feeling. You smiled at his response and grabbed the toner, adding it to his hair seeing the blonde slowly darken. Until it came to your desired color you washed it out and added conditioner, washing that out as well until the high lights were finished.
"There now let me just blow dry it because you look like a mop." You chuckled grabbing a towel rubbing it over his head getting the access water out, before turning the blow dryer on and drying his hair, styling it like he usually does.
"And we're done." You stated, looking contently at the end result. Joe looked at his reflection and smiled widely, "Holy shit, that looks amazing." He said turning side to side admiring the lighter colors peaking around. "Yay, you like it?" You asked resting your hands on his shoulders. "I do, it came out so good, thank you I love you." He smiled, standing up and giving you a big kiss, a laugh escaping your lips. "For sure babe." You said touching his soft hair. "Damn that conditioner did wonders." You stated running your fingers continuously through the silk like hair.
"Now can you give a full back massage?" Joe asked looking down at you with that damn cute smile.
"Fine." You sighed with a smirk.
