This imagine is inspired of the song "Mine" by Taylor Swift
So what I'm gonna do is kinda have a look back at
Y/N and Joe's relationship. So I'll put a lyric and a paragraph or two about how that lyric related to Joe and Y/N's relationship.

You were in college, working part-time, waiting tables
Left a small town, never looked back
I was a flight risk, with a fear of fallin'
Wondering why we bother with love, if it never lasts

You and Joe were just dumb kids when you two fell in love.

He was a waiter part time, earning very little money for his college tuition.

Before that he left Newburyport, leaving his past life behind. You both sort've ran away.

You were honestly hasty about the whole thing.

Two kids running away for love? It seemed perfect. But you weren't even sure if this thing would last. And if it didn't, what the hell were you going to do?

I say, "Can you believe it?"
As we're lyin' on the couch
The moment, I can see it
Yes, yes, I can see it now

You and Joe were on the couch in the small apartment he owned.

You both wouldn't really have a lot of time since you had work, and Joe had school alongside work.

But whenever you guys did have time to spend with each other you would drive over to his house and lay on the couch, your head on his lap.

You couldn't believe that you and Joe both had a small independent life, and even though it wasn't the most financially stable relationship it was the best you have ever been in.

The passion and true love in it made you feel okay, and made you happy.

Do you remember, we were sittin', there by the water?
You put your arm around me for the first time
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing, that's ever been mine

You will always remember the time you and Joe went to the river.

You both had a small picnic.

Enjoying sandwiches with chips, watermelon, fruit salad, and champagne.

You both sat on the edge of the river, feet in.

He wrapped his arm around you and your heart skipped a beat.

You were so amazed at the life the both of you created.

He opened you up, molded you into the person you are now.

Being confident, not afraid to break the rules.

Not keeping to yourself.

He was absolutely the best thing was ever yours.

Flash forward, and we're takin' on the world together
And there's a drawer of my things at your place
You learn my secrets and you figure out why I'm guarded
You say we'll never make my parents' mistakes

Both you and Joe got better jobs.

Which meant you two made more money and were able to buy an apartment for the both of you.

That apartment being on the smaller side, but it was a roof on your head nonetheless.

One of your first nights in that apartment you figured that since it was both of your guys' apartment, that you'd open up to him.

You opened up about your insecurities, and growing up watching your parents make mistakes in the relationship. And hearing your mom tell you that there's no happy ending, that you'd end up alone because every girl does at the end.

Joe told you "We'll never make your parents' mistakes."

And we got bills to pay
We got nothin' figured out
When it was hard to take
Yes, yes

Money began to become a problem again.

Bills were getting higher.

You and Joe had nothing figured out.

And I remember that fight, two-thirty a.m.
'Cause everything was slipping right out of our hands
I ran out, crying, and you followed me out into the street

2:30 am.

A fight about bills, and blaming each other for maybe spending more money than they need to.

You were losing everything.

On the brink of loosing the house.

You cried and yelled.

While he sighed frustratingly trying to keep his cool, but completely failing. Yelling back.

You ran outside, tears falling.

He followed, grabbing your arm.

Braced myself for the goodbye,
'Cause that's all I've ever known
Then, you took me by surprise
You said, "I'll never leave you alone"

"This is it," You thought as you stared at Joe the street light glowing his face.

You knew this was it.

Every single relationship you've been through ended after one fight.

It's what you were used to.

"I'll never leave you alone." Joe said

Apologies were made, kisses were shared. You were okay.

You said, "I remember how we felt, sitting by the water.
And every time I look at you, it's like the first time.
I fell in love with a careless man's careful daughter.
She is the best thing that's ever been mine."

Joe told you he loved you that night.

Every time he looked at you his breath was taken away, like the first time he laid eyes on you.

You were the best thing that was ever his.

Do you believe it?
We're gonna make it now
And I can see it

5 years later, you guys made it.

You guys bought a house.

Got good jobs.

Loved each other more than ever.

And were getting married.

"Do you Joseph take Y/N to love and to cherish as your lawfully wedded wife?" The pastor asked Joe, making him nod eagerly and looked down with a smile. "Yes, yes of course I do."

Your heart fluttered at his words.

You knew he was in love with you.

"Do you Y/N, take Joseph to love and to cherish as your lawfully wedded husband?" The pastor asked. You nodded while looking into Joe's eyes. "I do."

"You May kiss the bride."
