I stood on my tiptoes, eyeing over the crowds of people that where crowded around the same airport terminal I was. Liam's flight had just landed, and I was here to pick him up after a six month tour. A six month tour in which I hadn't had hardly any time with my education to go see him. The most we got to do was talk on the phone, and text in our free time.
The crowd slowly began to fade away, leaving me standing with a few more people, mostly being limo drivers holding up white cardboard signs with names scraweled across them, or older women, holding signs with what I presumed was their offsprings name on it. I stood there, an outcast, simply relying off sight.
Biting my lip, I once again rose up onto my toes, my eyes scanning the now steady flow of people that came up out of the airplane tunnel. A few more people emerged, before the crowd stopped completely. My heart dropped into the bottom of my stomach.
Did I have the wrong day? Did I have the wrong flight? Did Liam get lost? I considered texting him, pulling my phone from my pocket in a matter of seconds and clicking to his contact, but then something in the corner of my eye caught my attention.
Liam's short cropped brunette hair.
Grinning wildly, I shoved the phone back down into my pocket, and gently made my way through the crowd of people, sprinting for his figure, that was still standing at the edge of the tunnel. He was looking around, his eyes narrowed, searching for me, I guessed.
"Liam!" I cried happily, sprinting for him once I got into open area, throwing myself into his unexpecting arms.
"Monica," He murmured into my hair, regaining his balance as he wrapped his arms tightly around me, pulling me close to his chest and burrying his face in the crook of my neck. "Oh my god I missed you so much."
"I missed you too," I said, holding onto him tightly, as if his shirt was my life support. My voice cracked slightly, and I felt two tiny tears slip from each of my eyes.
"Hey, shush, don't cry, I'm never leaving you again, I'm here now, shhh," Liam soothed, pulling back to flick the liquid off my cheeks with the pad of his thumb. Then he cupped my face in both of his hands, and captured my lips in his, kissing me deeply, pouring six months of what we had missed into that one kiss.
"Hey, have I told you lately I love you?" Liam murmured, our foreheads touching, lips still barely brushing.
"Text wasn't good enough. I love you too," I replied, pressing our lips back together, despite the multiple clicks of camera's all around us.
