"I don't need to be set up with someone!" I moaned, glaring at my friend from my bed, crossing my legs and pulling them tightly to me. "I just broke up with a guy, I don't need another one in my life right now."

"No, actually you do," My friend snickered, nodding as she bent over my closet, throwing things onto the bed behind her. "You've been moping around here for weeks Kristin. I haven't seen you out in forever. And you haven't even bought anything new in forever! It isn't like you. You need someone to get you back on your feet."

"I don't need anyone, I just need time," I growled in annoyance, rolling my eyes, and flopping back onto my pillow, covering my eyes with my hands.

"And new clothes," My friend supplied, wrinkling her nose in disgust as she picked up an ugly flower covered sundress that appeared to be about ten sizes to big.

"I haven't done laundry in a week," I lied, rolling my eyes as she almost disappeared into the mountain of clothes, her backside being the only thing sticking out.

"You need to do that too," She said, rolling her eyes before re-surfacing from the mess holding one of my favorite outfits. It was a pair a black skinny jeans, and a plain brown sweater.

"Put this on while I go back in to search for shoes," She nodded in approval, throwing me the pieces of fabric, before poking her head back into the mountain.

Sighing in defeat, I shimmied into the jeans and pulled the sweater over my head, fixing both of them so they fit in the right places before grinning at my reflection in the mirror. A few seconds later my favorite pair of black TOMS rolled over the top of my bare feet.

Grinning, I slipped them onto my feet, before striking a pose. Both of us giggling, there was a sudden knock coming from the front door.

"Who could that be?" I wondered out loud, starting to wander over to my bedroom door to go out and check.

"Uhm, that'd probably be the guy I set you up with," She grinned sheepishly. "Go pull up your hair in a ponytail, simple enough. And put on some makeup. But be quick! I'll entertain him!"

Adrenaline rushing through me, I darted into the bathroom, hasitly grabbing the comb off the counter, and running it through my ratty hair to smooth it out. I then snatched a spare hairtie from the other side of the counter, pulling my long chocolate brown hair up into a semi-neat ponytail. I applied some light mascara and eyeliner, deciding that was enough, and then darting out the door to the bathroom, nervously shuffling my way down the hallway to where my friend was busily talking away to someone.

And the someone had an English accent. What the..

Peeking my head around the corner of the hallway wall, I almost passed out right there.

She set me up

With Liam Payne.

From the one and only One Direction.

Holy crap.

I gasped loudly, causing both their heads to snap in my direction. Grinning sheepishly, I covered it up with a couch, shuffling my way into the room to stand by my friend.

"Hi!" Liam said, smiling at me, his brown eyes roaming over my face. "You must be Kristin, right? My date for the night."

"Yeah," I said shyly, a blush forming on my cheeks. "And your Liam Payne." That part almost came out as a mix between a squeak and a scream. Don't fangirl Kristin. Not right now!

"The one and only. Shall we get going?" He held out his hand to me, his grin soft as he still stared at my face.

"Uhm, yeah," I mumbled the blush still visible on my cheeks as I gently placed my hand in his, taking a few steps forward. As we began to go out the door, I turned around my eyes wide, but my friend simply gave me a thumbs up mouthing, "Go get him girl!"

"So I'm thinking, instead of going to this fancy restaurant like -insertfriendsnameherelol- suggested, how about we go for a walk. I think I saw a nice park up ahead. We could go sit in private, and talk..you know, if you want," Liam rambled out, his tone sounding nervous. Wait, Liam freaking Payne was nervous? Oh god.

"That's fine," I said, my voice barely audible as I grinned up at him. "I take walks there all the time."

"Mkay."

We walked hand in hand over to the park, seating ourselves side-by-side on a little bench that was near the playground area. The sunset started to die over the hill, leaving a faint lighting coming from the nearby streetlights. That just showed how long we talked as the night slowly got completely dark, us still chatting away.

"To be truthful, I didn't even want to come here tonight," I said somewhat regretful, watching Liam from the corner of my eye to see his reaction. "I just broke up with my boyfriend..and I really wasn't ready for anyone else. But you're really nice.."

"Well, whoever he was, he was an idiot to break up with you Kristin," Liam said softly, squeezing my hand that hadn't left his for these two or three hours, using his other hand to tilt my chin up to look at him.

"Thanks," I said, hoping he couldn't see my scarlet face in the darkness.

"You're welcome," He almost whispered, before leaning in slowly, his lips softly touching mine.

When he pulled back I was full out grinning.

"Yeah, I'm glad I came tonight."
