Alex woke up to the sound of his phone ringing. Alex slowly pulled away from his sleeping wife and grabbed his phone, rushing out of the room and going down to the living room.
"Hello," Alex answered, rubbing his face as he tried to wake up.
"Sir, we have some news," An officer stated
"What is it, Walker?" Alex asked, feeling annoyed at being woken up so early.
"Keith Summers has escaped. It happened earlier yesterday, we just had to confirm it," Deputy Walker explained
"Why didn't you tell me this yesterday? As soon as you heard about it, it should've been reported to me!" Alex snapped, keeping his voice low.
"I'm sorry, sir," Walker apologized
"I'll be in the office soon," Alex stated, hanging up afterward.
Alex put his phone on the coffee table and sighed, putting his elbows on his knees and putting his hands on his face. He didn't know what to do. Keith was dangerous and was most likely going to come after Norma again.
As he thought about all the things that could happen, he felt two hands go on his shoulders. Alex looked back and saw Norma who was barely awake.
"Did I wake you?" Alex asked, his voice soft.
Norma shook her head no, "Our baby woke me up.".
Alex chuckled and grabbed Norma's hand.
"What's wrong?" Norma asked, lacing her fingers in Alex's hair with her free hand.
"Nothing, just work," Alex replied
"Are you sure? Why'd they call you this early?" Norma questioned
"Something came up, but they won't tell me over the phone," Alex lied.
He refused to stress his wife out. He knew she would worry about everything and he didn't want the stress to hurt her nor the baby.
Norma nodded her head and pulled Alex's hand lightly, "Let's go to sleep.".
Alex nodded and sighed, "I've got to go to work."
"Can you at least lay with me?" Norma asked, a whine behind her question.
Alex smiled and nodded, then standing up and walking behind his wife as she led them to their bedroom.
-
Norma slowly painted the room a pastel pink. The baby would be here soon; in only three months they would meet their child.
As she painted the wall, her phone started ringing. She looked at who was calling and smiled wide when she saw her husbands name.
She picked her phone up and answered.
"Hi, honey," Norma answered, her voice gentle.
"Hi, my love. What are you doing?" Alex asked
"Painting. How's work?" Norma asked, focusing her attention to the pink wall.
"Work is stressful," Alex replied, sitting in his car.
"What's going on at work? Do you know why they needed you so early?" Norma asked, walking down the stairs to the kitchen.
"It wasn't anything too important, at least, I don't want you to worry about it," Alex responded
"Alex, just tell me," Norma insisted, her emotions starting to take over.
"Look, it's something I don't want to discuss over the phone. I don't want to tell you because if you stress about it, it could hurt our baby," Alex said, keeping his cool.
"I won't stress over it!" Norma snapped, her anger now present.
Alex sighed and shut his eyes, laying his head against the seat of his car.
"Please, Norma," Alex begged, "I'm taking car of it."
"You always say that. You said it when we were younger and you said it whenever something bad happened," Norma said, walking out of the kitchen and to the front door.
"I know, but if you trust me, you'll understand that I mean it. I just want what's best for everyone and you know that," Alex explained, turning his car on.
"I do trust you, but I want to help," Norma whined as she descended down the concrete stairs.
"Sweetheart, I love that you want to help, but it's under control. If it gets out of control, I'll ask for your help, I promise," Alex said.
Norma rolled her eyes, "Alright tough guy.".
Alex chuckled which made Norma smile even if she wanted to be mad at him for not telling her.
-
Norma was in the office looking at places where her and Alex could move to. It was always their dream to get out of White Pine Bay and she wanted that dream to come true. Norma was deep in thought until she heard the bell that rang when people opened the door.
Norma looked up and saw the scariest sight- Keith Summers and a man who she didn't recognize, holding guns.
"Hi, Norma," Keith said, walking up to her.
Norma stayed silent and held her breath as she held her stomach, wanting to protect her unborn child.
"You got pregnant? Is it Alex's or another mans?" Keith laughed, then putting his disgusting hand on Norma's stomach.
"Please don't touch me," Norma whispered, moving backwards and hitting the wall.
"You know, Alex isn't here and that means I can do whatever I'd like," Keith laughed, looking at his companion behind him.
-
Alex stopped at a flower shop and chose blue and white tulips. He paid for them and got back into his car, then driving towards the motel. All the while, he had no idea what was happening to his wife.
He didn't think much about Keith being near the motel since the last sighting was across town, so he only thought about this beautiful goddess.
As he pulled up, he saw an older looking truck parked by the motel, so he got out of the car and walked up to the office. He heard Norma's voice faintly but when he walked in, he saw nobody but her.
She was looking down at a book and was speaking to herself.
"Norma?" Alex asked, making Norma jump and look up.
Alex gasped at the sight of his wife and Norma smiled a soft smile when she saw the flowers in Alex's hand. Norma wanted to tell Alex what had happened to her but there were people listening, so she had to be careful.
"What happened to your face?" Alex asked, putting the flowers down on the desk and cupping Norma's face.
"Nothing bad. I fell while painting," Norma lied, grabbing a piece of paper and a pen.
"How'd you fall?" Alex asked as Norma pulled back, gently, from Alex's touch.
"I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings," Norma replied, putting the pen down and handing Alex the paper.
"That's the address to a place I found in portland," Norma said, smiling a forced smile as her husband read the note.
Keith is here with someone. They're in the back room.
Alex nodded and smiled as he put the note in his pocket. He was about to say something but Keith and an older man walked out and grabbed Norma. Alex froze and watched as Keith put his gun to Norma's stomach, loving the reaction Alex had.
