A month had passed since the wedding had happened. Things were perfect for the newly weds and they felt as if nothing could ruin anything. They had a routine that happened everyday. He, Alex, would go off to work, the kids would go to school, and Norma would sit countless hours in the motel office. But when everyone was done with school and work, they ate dinner together and talked about everything that happened.

Alex sat in his office, reading through a file about a missing little girl. He sighed as he read through everything. He then closed it and rubbed his face, enjoying the silence of his office until there was a silent knock on the door.
"Come in," Alex groaned, looking back down at the closed file.
"I came to give you your key back," A woman said, then shutting the door behind her.
Alex looked up and saw the redheaded woman he despised. Rebecca put the key on the desk and folded her arms, somewhat glaring at the man she had fallen for.
"Thanks," Alex thanked, looking at the key.
"So, you got married?" Rebecca asked.
Alex scoffed knowing that she was going to ask that exact question.
"Yes, I got married. You and I have hardly spoken these past five years. I haven't even seen you so why does it matter now?" Alex questioned, crossing his arms and looking up at the stunned and angry woman.
"I went to visit my family in another state. They needed help. Now let me guess, you married the crazy blonde whore?" Rebecca asked, rolling her eyes.
Alex quickly stood up and leaned closer to the woman, "Do not speak poorly about my wife. She deserves respect," Alex snapped.
Rebecca smiled at Alex's outburst, "But it's true. She screwed Keith and probably half of the town. I wouldn't be surprised if she's cheating on you right as we speak.".
Alex grew angrier and needed this woman out of his sight but before he could do anything, the door opened and his wife walked in. Rebecca took the chance to grab Alex's face and kiss him. Alex pushed away as quickly as he could and looked at a shocked and hurt Norma.
"It's not what it looks like!" Alex said, looking at his wife.
Norma walked into the room and shut the door. She was glaring daggers into the now wary looking redhead.
"I should get going," Rebecca stated looking down at the ground.
"No, sit. Let's talk," Norma snapped, walking closer to the other woman.
"I don't have time," Rebecca said, anger and fear coursing through her veins.
"But you had time to kiss my husband? You know, I don't really like sharing what's mine," Norma whispered, now two feet apart from the woman.
Rebecca was speechless and wanted to run but she stood her ground. Norma backed away from the woman and glanced at Alex before she went at Rebecca who gasped.
Alex grabbed Norma's waist as her fist made contact with the woman's face. Norma tried to get out of Alex's grip and go back to her vicious attack but Alex's arms wouldn't budge.
Rebecca looked at Alex with wide eyes.
"You should leave before I let her go," Alex stated, loosening his grip on Norma but still keeping her trapped.
Rebecca ran out of the room and shut the door behind her, then completely leaving the station.
Norma calmed down but quickly pushed Alex off of her and glared at him.
"What the hell was she doing here?" Norma snapped, her temper high.
"She came to give me a key back to my old house," Alex stated, feeling guilty.
"A k-key?" Norma asked, her voice low and hurt.
"It was from a very long time ago," Alex responded
"It's been five damn years! She's giving it back now?" Norma asked rhetorically.
Alex fell speechless, his heart racing as fearful thoughts were running around in his mind.
Norma started to laugh. She sounded sad and angry.
"I've got to go," Norma whispered, stopping her fit of mocking laughs.
She felt sick all of a sudden and she needed to leave.
"Don't go! I promise it wasn't like that. I haven't met up with her since you've moved back here. I would never cheat on you," Alex explained, his face serious.
Norma stared at him blankly. Her head was spinning and her ears were ringing. The need to throw up was there and she needed to go before anything happened.
"I- I've got to go," Norma whispered, grabbing her purse and walking towards the door.
Norma quickly walked out of the station but was stopped by Alex. That was it. Norma couldn't hold it in any longer. She threw up in the bushes then coughing afterwards.
"Are you alright?" Alex asked, pulling Norma's hair from her face and rubbing her back.
"I'm fine. I've probably gotten a stomach bug," Norma replied
"Okay, do you want me to drive you home?" Alex asked, his voice full of worry.
Norma turned to look at Alex, "No, I'll be fine. I'm just going to go home. Pick the boys up for me," Norma whispered, her eyes wary.
Alex went to pull her in for a hug but Norma brushed him off and walked to her car, getting in and driving away. Alex cursed himself for even speaking with Rebecca that long. He knew she was going to try something but he wasn't necessarily expecting what she had done.
He then sighed and walked into the station with only his wife in mind.
-
Her tears wouldn't end. She sat in her bathroom looking at the white, plastic stick that read positive. She had a feeling that this was the problem with her. She was beyond happy but also scared.
She knew Alex wouldn't get mad but she also had a part of her that told her to worry and think the worst.
