Norma pulled away from Alex's grip and wiped her nose and tears.
It stayed silent until Norma broke it.
"This is our end?" Norma asked, the thought breaking her heart even more.
Alex scrunched his eyebrows together and shook his head no.
"This is not the end. I'll be gone but I'm coming back to you and I will make you my wife. I promise I'll come back," Alex replied, giving a small smile at the end.
"I don't want you to go," Norma burst into tears.
She couldn't bear the thought. She felt like a piece of her heart was being ripped away from her.
"Please stay, please! I need you!" Norma cried.
Alex couldn't bear it; he quickly grabbed Norma and pulled her close to him. Squeezing her body and kissing her forehead over and over again.
He then grabbed a small ring out of his pocket and put it on Norma's hand.
"I promise I'll come back," Alex whispered.
Norma nodded her head but her tears never ended. She then pulled the collar of Alex's shirt and kissed him like there was no tomorrow, and for them, tomorrow wasn't a thing. They were going their separate ways until the universe decided to bring them back together.
-
Six years had passed and Norma had moved state to state. She had moved to Idaho where she met her first husband John. It didn't last long until Norma met someone new. Everything in her life kept her distracted from Alex. She would think about him late at night when she couldn't sleep. Or after Sam left her in pain.
Norma was sitting in bed, feeding her seventh month old, Norman. She was waiting for Sam to walk through the bedroom door but instead, her phone rang instead.
"Hello," Norma answered, keep Norman secured in her arms as he slept.
"Is this Mrs. Bates?" A man asked
"This is she," Norma responded, looking at the ring Alex gave her.
"I called to inform you that your husband had been shot and won't be coming home. I'm sorry," The man stated
"How did he die?" Norma asked, trying to sound as sad as possible.
"He got into a fight with someone and they pulled a gun on him. I shouldn't tell you that but I think you deserve to know," The man said, sympathetically.
"Thank you, for telling me," Norma said, then hanging up.
Norma sighed and felt tears coming to her eyes. No more abuse. She wasn't ever going to let another man touch her or her kid again.
-
"A divorce?" Alex asked shock not completely taking over.
"I'm sick of you! You're worried about work and you don't want kids! Who doesn't want kids? You won't even be open in this relationship!" The dirty blonde-haired woman yelled
"Fine! We can get a divorce. I'll get the papers tonight," Alex said, rolling his eyes as he watched his wife go upstairs.
-
A month had passed and Norma had decided to move back to where she grew up; White Pine Bay.
It was the only place she knew she could handle. With Sam dead, she wouldn't have to worry about her purchases or him yelling at her for using his money.
She bought the Seafairer motel where Keith Summers grew up. It wasn't in the best shape but she planned to remodel it.
It was midnight by the time she got to White Pine Bay but she didn't care. She was happy to be out of the very boring state of Arizona.
Norma pulled up onto the gravel outside of the motel and put her head on the steering wheel. She was happy that her 'new' life was starting and that she could make her sons' life's better.
Norma turned off the car and got out. She opened Norman's door and picked him up, then wrapping him in a baby blue blanket. She shut the door and walked over to Dylan's side, waking him up as soon as the car door opened.
"We're here?" Dylan asked, his voice groggy.
"Yes baby, we're here," Norma replied, a small smile on her face.
Dylan nodded and unbuckled, getting out and going to the trunk that was now opened.
-
"Don't worry about it, man. She wasn't worth it," A deputy said, making Alex roll his eyes.
"Obviously she wasn't," Alex responded, sighing afterward.
"Look at the motel. There's a car there," The deputy said, pointing at the SeaFairer Motel.
Alex pulled up on the side of the car and saw the small boy trying to hold a box steadily. Both officers got out and walked over to the family.
"Are you guys lost?" Alex asked, looking at the blonde-haired boy.
Norma looked up from the boxes in the trunk and at Alex. Her heart skipped four beats. Their eyes locked and no words were said. The deputy looked at Alex who looked lost; it was a sight to see.
"Romero?" The deputy called.
Alex looked at the deputy and back at Norma.
"I'm not lost. I bought the motel," Norma finally said.
"That's great. It's about time someone bought it," The deputy chuckled.
Norma smiled and looked down at her baby. He was sound asleep.
"What's your name?" The blue-eyed deputy asked
"Norma Bates," Norma responded, sticking out her hand that had the ring on it.
The deputy shook her hand as Alex examined the ring; the ring that he gave her when he left.
"I'm deputy Johnson and this is Sheriff Romero. Are you here alone or is your husband going to come later on?" The deputy asked
"My husband actually passed away not too long ago," Norma responded, looking at Alex.
Deputy Johnson nodded and looked at Alex.
"Do you need help?" Alex asked
"I don't want to be a bother," Norma replied, feeling shy.
"It's no problem. We don't mind," Alex stated, leaning down to pick up the box Dylan had.
Norma nodded, "Okay,".
Alex smiled and started walking up to the house with Norma in front of him. Deputy Johnson grabbed a few things and talked with Dylan as they stayed behind.
