Chapter 5

"She has WHAT!"

It was clear that Shawn was very upset.
He didn't think the accident would have that affect on Maya.
Neither did Cory or Topanga.

"How bad amnesia?" Topanga asked.
"She remembers when she and Riley met Lucas Friar. It was apparently long ago," Katy said.
"Yes it was. Four months before she met Shawn and Josh," Cory said.
"She doesn't remember me at all?" Shawn asked.
"No she doesn't," Katy said.
"What now?" Cory asked.
"Now we have to wait till she gets it back. The doctor said it's just temporarily. It's not permanent," Katy said.
"How does that help? I need some air," Shawn said and was gone.

Back at the hospital Riley had called Lucas to come over.
Obviously only him but she has no idea what to say.

"Hey."
"She has amnesia," Riley said.
"How bad?" Lucas asked.
"She remembers the day we met you. That's all," Riley said.
"Okay. Let's go," Lucas said.

"Maya looks like you have a visitor," Riley said.
"Hi."
"I'll leave you two alone. I'll be back in half an hour," Riley said.

"So we know you?" Maya asked.
"To say the truth... I'm Riley's boyfriend," Lucas said as he sat down.
"What are you of me?" Maya asked.
"A good friend. You will see a lot of them who you won't remember. You probably remember Farkle," Lucas said and Maya smiled.
"Yeah I've known him since teh first grade," Maya said.
"He also has a girlfriend named Smackle. Isadora Smackle. And my best friend from my hometown came here about a year after me. Isaiah Babineaux or as we like to call him, Zay. You have grown close to him."
"Okay. What else can you tell me about our friendship?" Maya asked.
"Oh the fact that you LOVE to call me nicknames. Western," Lucas said.
"Like what?" Maya asked.
"Bucky-McBoing-Boing, Sun Dance, Ranger Rick, Huckleberry, Ranger Roy which was a once of oh and going Ha-hurr in my face. Um... I can't even remember every one. But those are quite a few of them," Lucas said.

When Riley came back an hour later Lucas said goodbye and went home.

"So did you have a great time?" Riley asked.
"You were gone for more than half an hour," Maya said.
"What you learned?" Riley asked.
"Nothing much. We became close friends as long with a lot of other kids. He's your boyfriend. That is lucky. I call him nicknames. One of them is Huckleberry I think," Maya said.
"Everyday it's Huckleberry. Why do you call him that?" Riley asked.
"I'll know when I can remember," Maya said.
"Of course. Sorry," Riley said.
"It's fine. I can't believe my kom married after my dad left. That's crazy."
"Your entire life is crazy," Riley said.
