A good day

Lilly pov

It was the middle of July, the weather had been really good. Me and Molly had been planting some flowers in the garden along with some veg. It was a small task but brought us closer. I was sat on my bed reading when harry appeared at the door "hey" he said "hiya" I replied putting the book down "want to head into diagonal alley? I'm sure you'll want to get some of your school supplies early and I'm really feeling some ice cream" he said "yea, let me grab my purse and I'll meet you downstairs" I said with a smile as he walked out.

I looked at myself in the mirror, my hair was still bright pink and I was planning on keeping it that way. I wore a pair of shorts, a yellow crop top and a baggy checkered shirt of Harry's. I grabbed my purse off the dresser and skipped down the stairs, placing my wand in my pocket "molly do you need anything while we are out?" I asked.

"Oh nothing dear, use will be back for tea won't use?" She asked "we will" Harry said "then I'll see you then, have fun!" She said with a smile as we flooed away. We landed with a thud in the back of a little shop and Harry brushed some ash off my nose. I laughed and wrapped my arm round his as he lead us out of the shop.

A couple of shops later we were sat outside a little ice cream shop "do you think you got everything you need?" He asked "I'll come back in August and get my uniform but I think that's all" I said with a smile "Mrs Weasley will love the flowers and necklace you got her" he said, staring at the little gift bag on the table "she's been so good to me...taking me in. I wanted to show her I appreciated it" i said, he grabbed my hand "she knows you do" he said with a small smile "so what ice cream did you get?" I asked

"honey comb" he replied, holding out the spoon for me to try "ooo it's nice!" I said "you've never had honeycomb ice cream before?" He asked "I wasn't really allowed a lot of sweets growing up. On Christmas and my birthday was about the height of it. That first time when the sweet trolly passed me on the train I near jumped at it" I said with a laugh "then I guess we'll just have to buy all them for you to try so you can pick your favourite!" He said with a smile

"oh merlin no, I think I'd boke" I said, he laughed checking his watch "we've still an hour before we have to head back. Want to go for a walk?" He asked "yea" I said getting up, he grabbed my bags before I could and I gave him a disapproving look before walking beside him. Our hands linked as we walked the streets keeping our heads slightly low to avoid the paparazzi.

"It's so quiet here" I said as we sat on a bench that sat high upon a hill "it's really peaceful" I said, my head leaning against Harry's shoulder "yea it is" he said. We sat in happy silence before he began talking "Lilly..." he started "yea?" I questioned "can I ask you something?" He asked "shoot" I said, sitting up "so we've had this thing between us for quite some years now....and you know how much I love you...and I..I.." he began to stutter. I smiled slightly as I watched him try and piece his sentence together "I...will....Lilly will you be my girlfriend?" He blurted out, he looked so nervous as he looked at me. I giggled slightly

"what's funny?" He asked "nothing...yes. Yes Harry...I'll be your girlfriend" I said with a big smile. He looked relived and leant in for a kiss, my lips met his and he smiled against the kiss "I love you" I said. "I love you too" he said with a gleeful smile. I rested my head back on his shoulder and looked up at him "what?" He asked "it's just....after 16 years....This is the happiest I've ever been. I want to stay in this moment forever" I sighed. He kissed the top of my head "me too" he replied

When we apparated back to the house Mrs Weasley was cooking and Ron and Hermione were setting the table. I walked over to molly "smells amazing molly" I said with a smile "I got you these" i said handing her the flowers and the bag "oh you didn't have too" she said with a smile, I looked over at Ron and Hermione who smiled "oh dear it's lovely!" Molly said as she looked at the necklace "this must have cost you loads!" She said with a gasp

"no amount of money could ever be enough to repay you for what you've done for me. You and Arthur took me in when I had no where else to go and I'm forever grateful for that. You've been a second mother to me and I love you for that" I said, a tear slipping down my face as she hugged me tightly "I love you like my own, you don't ever have to repay me. I know how grateful you are my dear" she said, wiping my tears away. I smiled as I took my seat beside Hermione who rubbed my arm "that was really nice of you" she said "she deserves it.." I said with a smile as we began to eat.

"Dessert anyone?" Molly asked "if I eat anymore I think I'll explode" I said with a small laugh "same here" Hermione said. Molly only laughed and began serving the boys there dessert. The rest of the night went quite well, we played games, had a laugh...everything seemed normal. When everyone went to bed that's when I took my chance to slip outside. I didn't go far just to the bottom of the hill near the house and I lay down looking up at the stars

"dad, I don't know if you can hear me but I miss you. It's been over a month since you died and I'm still finding it hard to understand. I read in the paper you deserved to die which I don't believe for a second. You may not have been the best father but I still love you and I miss you so much....I wish I had been able to change their minds....I wish mum wasn't still so broken....I feel like I've let you down....I'm sorry" I said out load

"Lilly?" A voice said. I shot up and realised it was only George "you scared me.." I said, catching my breath "sorry...I just came out to think is all" he said sitting down beside me "George can I ask you something?" I said "what's up?" He questioned "does it get easier? Because this pain I'm feeling...it's breaking me, Ivan feel it. Every little crack in me seems to just be getting bigger. And I don't understand why. I've had the best day ever, I mean for merlins sake Harry asked me out. This day has been everything I've ever wanted since the war ended but just when I went to go to sleep my heart began to break...I could feel it. The bad thoughts, the emptiness.. all of it just coming from no where. I don't know how to make it stop George" I cried.

He looked at me with understanding eyes "it'll get easier...you may not even realise it. It could be something as simple as someone coming and dying your hair a crazy blue colour" he said with a small smile. I looked at him a smiled "thank you George" I said. Getting up and giving him a hug "I'm always here when you need me, I understand what you're going through" he said with a smile as we headed back inside
