Victoria!

***************************************************************************************************

Veronica was in the lobby of the recent, and last, hotel she was staying at. Today was the day she had been waiting for, she was moving into her college dorm. The check out at the front desk had been quick and now Veronica was walking across the parking lot of the Holidays Inn to make the hour and a half to two hour drive to her college dorm at UCLA.

Driving down the highway, Veronica turned on the ipod which was connected to her radio system. Coming off the exit, she couldn’t help but to admire the typical sunny afternoon. Compared to her hometown the heat felt different, whether it was the decrease in humidity or just being in a place away from her family, it didn’t matter and Veronica welcomed it with open arms. So caught up in the freedom she had, Veronica laughed when her stomach demanded her attention.

“Okay I guess I’ll make a quick stop and grab some food,” her stomach roared back, louder, “I’m sorry I understand your pain and I apologize for not having feed you since last night.” Veronica chuckled as her body’s insistent grumbling reminded her of a demanding child. Finding a small café along the road was easy and deciding that she didn’t want trash in her car, Veronica walked into the busy café and took a seat in the corner after placing her order.

The sun was coming in through the nearby window, its light reflecting off the table’s smooth surface dancing along her exposed skin. As always her attention was drawn to the single long white scar that hazardously lay across her wrist but this time its sight was accompanied by the words “Struggle Fight Live” above its presence. It was a tattoo she had been planning on getting ever since her freshman year when the scar first speared on her body. The pain of the tattoo was just a reminder to all the pain she had survived, the pain she lived through.

“Singing Radiohead at the top of our lungs with the bomb box blaring…,” the sound of her cell phone going off pulled Veronica out of the memories of her dark past. Looking down at the caller ID, she was confused and cautious as she answered the unknown number.

“Hello,” her voice was shaking in fear that her parents may have found her and would refuse to let her go to college anymore.

“Hi is this DarkAngelWings?” Silence. “Uh, this is Random102.” The voice on the other end was muffled but Veronica could still hear the nervousness in his voice.

“Hey Random, sorry I forgot I had given you my phone number. What a coincidence I was just thinking of you!”

“Yes you gave it to me because you didn’t feel like paying another night of internet at your hotel. And really you were thinking of me?” The hope in his voice was almost enough to make me lie to him. Almost.

“No I wasn’t really thinking of you, I was too busy eating food to keep my stomach from yelling at me.”

“Ah that’s hurtful because I know I was thinking of you Angel. And do you want me to call you back later so you can feed your deprived stomach?”

“No you can talk I’m just walking back to my car now to I’m just going to put you on speaker and talk to you while I drive. And you know I kinda figured you were thinking about me since you called me. Speaking of which why did you call, wanted to hear my beautiful voice again?” The smile that spread across her face was inevitable; every time Veronica would talk to him she could never stop herself from smiling the entire time.
