Beaten And Bruised

I hear the thumping of footsteps on the wood platform. Then descending down the stairs. Towards my sore body on the floor at the end of the small set of stairs. The steps sounded slow. Like he was taking his time. Dragging out every step to it's fullest. Trying to scare me even more, And succeeding. I was terrified. The wood creaked with every step as weight was added onto the old wood. That was weakened by age.

My whole body broke into a sweat. As my breathing picked up. My fast heart beating loudly in my chest. The sound filling my ears. Mine and his loud, heavy breaths filled the room along with the sound of slow footsteps. I quickly push myself up onto my knees. As I scan the darkness around me looking for him. Where is he? How far away from me was he? What is he going to do to me? Hurt me, kill me?

I start to crab walk backward. Small pieces of rock that lay on the ground poking the skin on my palms, but luckily not breaking the skin. Trying desperately to keep some space between us. I freeze when my back hits something, hard and cold, one of the room's walls. I'm cornered again. With absolutely nowhere to go. How do I keep doing that? The sound of the footsteps stopped. As though did his breathes. Now with absolutely no clue where he is at. Not the general vicinity he was in. I begin to panic even more.

Terror of the unknown of who he is and what he is going to do. Spreads through my entire body. I begin to shake violently, tears flood in my eyes streaming down my cheeks. As loud sobs, I tried to suppress leave my mouth now filling the room also. I hear him chuckle from somewhere in the room. It echoing off the walls. Making it hard to tell the direction it came from.

I hear a faint clicking sound.  Then the room is filled with a dim light. I squint. But even though it was quite dim of light. It still made my eyes burn. As they struggle to adjust again. I blink twice as fast. Trying to speed up the adjusting process.

When my eyes finally adjust to the sudden light. I frantically start searching for him. He stands right in the middle of the room, right below the light. With his right hand still up in the air, holding the pull string that controls the light. He is tall, way taller than me. He looked about 6'2, at the very least. While I stand at a height of 5'5. Not short. But he still easily towers over me. He looks in good shape, and strong too. Through his grey t-shirt and on his bare arms. I could see all of the muscle he has. And by the looks of it. He could easily overpower me.

He let his hand drop down to his side. Then I began to start walking my direction again. But these weren't slow steps. They were long and fast. I quickly get to my feet. My legs feel like jelly,  as I press my back farther against the concrete wall. As he gets closer. Hoping I would just disappear. It would just open up and swallow me. Take me anywhere but here. But I'm stuck with nowhere to go. As he closes in on me.

"Why a-am I he-re? Wh-at do you w-want?" I yell out of fear, my voice shaking, and stuttering. The loud sound echoing off the room's enclosed walls.

He stops dead in his tracks. Only a few feet away from me, looking at me with an intensely cold stare. He looked deep into my green eyes with his dark brown ones that looked almost black. That complemented his short light brown hair. The look sending shivers throughout my entire body. I try to hold his stare, to not look weak. But it just made me feel so small, and powerless. It is just so intimidating.

I break eye contact looking down at the concrete floor. A loud dark laugh fills the small space. It bouncing off the walls making it even louder than it actually was. Making my eardrums hear. I wanted so badly to just cover my ears with my hands to block out some of the over barring sound. But I was too scared. Frozen in place. The sudden sound making me jump, as shivers ran down my spine, then spreading throughout my whole body. Ending at my fingertips and toes.
