Making your way to the bathroom, you could hear silent squeals in the distance, clearly belonging to Darrel. "Darrel! Are you alright?!" In a panic, you ran towards the door, flinging it open. In the centre of the bathroom was a large blob, rocking back and forth, squealing and weeping louder than anything you'd ever heard before. It was Darrel.
"Is he okay?" You turn you head to Shane, expected some sort of explanation for Darrel's abnormal behaviour. "He might of eaten too much bin pizza again. He likes to go into the dumpster, especially at night. He says week old pizza tastes the best. I know it sounds strange but, what the man wants the man gets I suppose." Shane shook his head, smiling gently. "He'll be okay. This won't be as bad as the time he ate rat poison. That was a trek of a day, I'll tell you that."
Darrel sweated furiously, clutching his aching stomach. He was in deep pain. "Should we take him to the doctor? Is there anything we can do to make him feel better?" Shane sighed, turning his head to Darrel. "If he gets any worse I think we should; as of how this is pretty normal for the guy," "If you think he'll be alright, I'll trust you. You know him more than I do, so..." You smiled in relief. Darrel was surely going to be okay. Shane smiled back. "I'll go get a blanket for him, he's probably cold." Shane existed the bathroom, leaving you and Darrel alone.
"I was so worried about you- I thought you were gone forever-" You wrapped your arms around Darrel and squeezed him tight. His face was warm and sweaty. He had a stench attached to him that was hard to familiarise- he smelt like everything your external nasal nerve had ever smelt. He gripped his stomach harder. "It's going to be okay," You reassured him calmly. "duele el estómago," he winced in pain. You stroked his bald head lovingly. He closed his tiny eyes and grimaced softly. "s-silla de rudas,"
Shane returned to the bathroom, blanket in hand. "Hopefully this helps, are you feeling any better Darrel?" Shane approached him, wrapped the blanket around Darrel's round body. Suddenly, Darrel squealed and bit into Shane's left arm. Shane screamed in pain. Darrel's razor-sharp teeth had pierced cleanly through Shane's skin. Blood rushed down his arm. Darrel's mouth foamed up in anger. He hissed.
Darrel was so strong and charming, you couldn't believe how amazing he was with everything he put his mind to. But, was he okay? Did he really intend to hurt Shane the way he did? You sighed, pulling the blanket off of Darrel. "Maybe he just felt overheated," Shaking your head, you turned to Shane, wrapping the blanket around his arm in an attempt to stop the bleeding. "This has never happened before- Maybe he was just feeling sensitive," Shane said, looking down at Darrel, who was still clutching his tummy. "I'll talk to him," You smiled at Shane lovingly. "He didn't mean it, I'm sure."
But you knew Darrel's secret. It was clear as day. Darrel had rabies.
