Chapter Twelve: You are Beautiful (edited)

Conner's P.O.V

The bottle was spinning rapidly. To be honest I am hoping it lands on me. Of course, I wouldn't kiss her unless she said I could but, I had to tell her something. The bottle started to slow down and was coming to a stop.

Oi, it might land on me. I hope...it comes to a stop and lands on Kory! My head snaps away from the bottle and my eyes meets Gabriella's. Her eyes are big. I look towards Kory and he is still looking at the bottle pointing straight at him.

"Um, we don't have to if you don't want to Gabriella." he said in an unsure tone.

"Um, I mean on the cheek is okay I guess..." A sign of relief went over Gabriella's face looked relieved when he nodded his head and kissed her on the cheek.

"Okay I think, that is enough of spin the bottle. For one night." Kory said. Everyone nodded their heads in agreement.

After everyone went home and Ali went to sleep, I turned toward Gabriella. She had her eyes closed. I gently brushed her cheek. "Lunar, are you awake?" She opened her eyes and looked at me nodding her head.

What's up? I turned my body towards her to see her better.

"Do you just want to write it down and I will to. Like a silent conversation." She nodded her head.

I grabbed a notebook and pen.

(Their conversation)

Conner: I need to talk to you about something...

Gabriella: Sure, what is it?

Conner: You know how you answered the door and um, saw your father...

Gabriella breathed in a sharp breath.

Gabriella: Yes... What about it?

Conner: How did you feel when you saw him?

Gabriella: Honestly, I don't know...

Conner: Can you tell me about him... and your past?

Gabriella: ...

Conner: You don't have to if you don't want to.

Gabriella: Um, can we just talk about something else?

Conner: Ya, sorry.

We wrote down anything and everything. And she was smiling. I havent seen a smile like that in forever. So, when her smile vanished after looking at her phone it worried me.

Conner: Gabriella what's wrong?

Gabriella: Nothing...

Conner: Why aren't you sm-

Gabriella: I 'said' it was nothing.

She picked up the notebook and pencil and set it on the table. I think you should go...

I stood up and faced her, "What is wrong? You were just smiling. What was so bad on your phone it caused you to push me away and be sad?" She turned away.

I gently grabbed her arm and faced her my way. She had a tear trickle down her cheek. I brushed the tear away from her cheek. She grabbed her phone and handed it to me.

Gabriella's P.O.V

I handed him my phone and he stared back at me. "What-"

Just read the message. He nodded his head and sat back on the couch.

He read it out loud, "Gabriella, you are a worthless and ugly whore, and you being mute is begging for attention. The only reason any one is your friend is because they feel sorry for you, not because they want to. So instead of being a burden to everyone why don't you just do us ALL a favor and d-" His face became red with anger, but he never finished the sentence.

"Gabriella, who sent this to you?" I shook my head sitting by him.

I don't know... its a blocked number. I looked down at the ground.

He lifted my chin with his thumb and forefinger. "Lunar you are beautiful. Don't listen to that text, because what it said is all lies. I am for a fact not just your friend because I feel bad. There is nothing to feel bad for. I am your friend because your smart, funny, kindhearted. And you are an amazing dancer"

Maybe- there right maybe I do need to d- I couldn't finish the word. What did I do to deserve this?

He shook his head in confusion, "Deserve what?"

"You are anything but that, Lunar. Don't listen to that. I will find out who sent this to you and that is a promise." I nodded my head. And he hugged me. I just cried in his arms.

It was at this moment that I knew I was getting feelings for Conner Gates. And it was strong. But, does he feel the same way?
