Steve and Ten talked all night about everything and anything. She tried her best to describe her past with the handful of words she understood, while he talked to her about Eleven, the Upside Down, Demogorgons, his relationship with Nancy. Of course, she interrupted a lot due to her lack of vocabulary, which he also expanded. Her favorite words included shithead, dumbass, pancakes, and the Spanish word "amigo." They'd both crashed on his bed, well, Steve hanging off of it and Ten sprawled across.
Ten woke up, she looked at Steve's body dangling off the bed and giggled, she still thought he was cute. She got off the bed and looked at the contents of his room. She noticed a can with a lady's face on it, labeled "Farrah Fawcett," she grabbed it and squeezed the top, the sound scared her and she screamed while throwing the what seemed to be ominous can across the room. Steve's head abruptly went up, "What's wrong!?" he urged, quickly standing and grabbing the nailed bat under his bed.
"Evil can." Ten quivered in fear as she pointed at the hairspray bottle. Steve's expression changed from "I'm ready to murder someone" to "God dammit now she knows that secret"
"Shortstack, chill. that's my uh, mom's hairspray bottle." He explained. A puzzled look crossed her face, "what's hairspray?" she asked. "It, you know, keeps your hair nice and pretty" he said as he ruffled his own hair. She looked at the mirror next to the dresser examining her own hair, which is obviously nonexistent.
"I want pretty hair." Ten declared, she wanted it longer than Steve's and longer than the lady's on the hairspray bottle. Steve sighed, "Well I can take you shopping, I feel like we should do that anyway. We can find a pretty little wig for you and you'll have hair- before you ask a wig is fake hair, but it obviously wouldn't better than mine though," he playfully teased. She nodded excitedly, happy to be living a normal life, to look normal.

"Dude, I cannot believe you ate three double burgers in a row, you're a fucking legend!" Steve exclaimed as they entered the door back into his house. It was now four PM on a Saturday, and they'd gone to the town over to shop at the local mall there. Usually Ten would be distraught by being around so many people, she could easily hear all of their hearts and their thoughts would be too loud as well. But now she felt calm, like her powers weren't taking over, she didn't feel the need to hurt herself or others. She giggles as he complimented her, she hasn't felt this happy in, well ever. "Okay short stack, I'm gonna call Nancy while you go to my room to get dressed, got it?" he stated. She nodded and walked towards his room, setting the bags she held down on Steve's unmade bed. She stripped and put on a stripped green, red, and blue button-up and high-waisted shorts. She decided that her outfit would look cuter if she tucked in the shirt, and put on her socks and white Converse. Finally, she took out the brown wig from it's bag, a wig that they spent many hours searching for. It was medium length and split in the middle. She had put it on her head with no trouble, having no hair at least had one perk. She looked at herself in the mirror, admiring her site. She smiled, a tear rolling down her eyes, Ten was confused, she'd never cry out of happiness before. She looked... pretty.

Ten exited Steve's room and heard him talking on the phone, "-yeah that sounds good, bring them all over ASAP, thanks Nance." then he hung up. Steve turned around to face Ten, his jaw dropping as he looked at her. "
"You look... beautiful shortstack" He awed with a hint of playfulness. Ten blushed a deep red, muttering a quick 'thank you.' She heard his heart speed up a bit, satisfying her. They sat down and waited for the party to arrive, Ten feeling a sudden rush of nerves. Will they like her? Do they know her sister well? Is she okay? Steve could tell she tensed up, "Hey Shortstack, it'll be okay, they're all nice kids I swear. Plus if anything bad happens Captain Steve-O will save you" he smirked, she giggled, calming down. The doorbell rang and Steve stood up to get it, knowing it was the gang. "Hey Steve!" a girly voice greeted. Ten stood up and watched them awkwardly hug, 'this is Nancy, his not girlfriend and girlfriend of Jonathan' she remembered what Steve had told her. They'd been dating since the monsters had disappeared, leaving Steve single for almost a year. Four small boys and another tall one entered the house, greeting Steve and staring at Ten. She recognized one of them, Mike.
"You are Mike, I see you in dreams. You are why I'm here." she pointed at him. He stared at her in awe, "How? What do you mean?" he interrogated. The group sat down in the living room and all stared at her, the nerves coming back. "You speak to sister, I see it at night" she simply explained, "I see a radio, you're around blankets. It's only Mike, the rest is darkness." She continued.
"You... you hear the things I say to Eleven?" He questioned.
"Dude you're still trying to talk to her?" A curly haired boy asked, Ten could feel judgement attached to his words. Mike blushed in embarrassment.
"It's worth a shot Dustin" he defended.
"Hey shitheads! Shut up and let her explain" Steve interjected, "continue please."
