Heronstar paced in the camp clearing waiting for the patrol to get back. His tail twitched anxiously as his eyes looked to the moon for a moment before glancing back to the entrance.
Moments later Milo and Blue appeared distress being all over their body. Rockpaw's gray form slowly came over cautiously.
"It's moonhigh! We are late to the gathering! This matter cannot go undiscussed. StarClan haven't spoked to us in three moons!" Heronstar mewed lowly as he stopped pacing and sat down. His two medicine cats perched on either side.
"Then the river is going low. Maybe StarClan is trying to tell us something-" Blue was saying before Stormclaw, Blizzardclaw and Gingerfoot came in camp. Behind them was Dawnpool, Lilystream and Hazeleye.
Heronstar sat up and jumped on the High log. His warriors sensing the urgency of the atmosphere was already outside. "The ones who will be going to the gathering is Myself, Milo, Blue, Rockpaw, Stormclaw, Nightwing, Thunderheart, Dawnpool, Sunstorm, Blizzardclaw, Gingerfoot and Whitepaw." He rushed out then hopped down and made his way over to the entrance.
Blizzardclaw gave a look at his apprentice who looked down at not being chosen. She flicked her tail then slunk away to the apprentice den with Applepaw and Antpaw behind her. The black tom saying something but the white she-cat steady kept walking. Whitepaw immediately ran over with a small grin on her face.
"Tell us what happens all right??" He heard Brindlecloud mew softly. Eaglestripe shrugged before walking away.
Blizzardclaw gave a nod then turned and went to the entrance. He saw Thunderheart nod slowly to Lightningfur who was making his way to the warrior den. Dawnpool who was talking to Lilystream, gave her a quick lick before moving away.
Nightwing was grumbling underneath his breath as he came over. "Can we go?!"
Heronstar chuckled softly as he waved his tail and the rest came.
They filed out the entrance one by one and made their way to High Rocks. They crossed the small hill catching the scents of FireClan.
Blizzardclaw shook his head as the thought of the Clans surviving without water. It was a quarter-moon ago when Eaglestripe, Antpaw, Redpaw and he found that the water leading underneath One-Tree was slowly coming through the tunnel in the nursery.
His blue eyes showed great thought. He dodged a rabbit hole that was in front of him. He looked to the sky seeing the moon glowing brightly.
'Icepaw! Show me what to do!'Heronstar who was up ahead quickened the pace and Blizzardclaw found himself running. Then he saw Gingerfoot slow down and come to him. "What's up??"
The white tom looked confused but nodded his head in respect.
"It's probably strange that I'm talking to you but I got something to tell you. You, Adderfrost and I are leaving later on today to find out why the river is running low. This stays between us right??" The ginger-footed tom breathed out.
"Sure. But-" Blizzardclaw began. He stopped as Heronstar turned and flicked his tail to keep quiet as they ducked under the gorse hanging.
Once inside the gathering place, Blizzardclaw felt overwhelmed. So many pelts and different cats. But they was already late so it wasn't time for conversations.
He saw Briarstar, Hailstar and Bumblestar sitting on High Rocks with impatient looks. It was indeed a new leadership era for the Clans. Hawkflight, Blackpelt and Mossfoot sat in their respective positions beneath their leaders'.
While Reedheart and Fishpaw of WillowClan sat perched some ways off with Poppysong of TreeClan and Mothpelt and Frogpaw of FireClan. The medicine cats and their apprentices were whispering in hushed tones. Milo, Blue and Rockpaw made their way over.
