Brightstar stared at Birdsong in shock. "What?" She asked, puzzled.

"Too much blood will be spilled if Starclan's kit doesn't succeed." Birdsong repeated.

"Who's Starclan's kit?" Brightstar asked, confused.

"I don't know." Birdsong admitted. "But I think it might be the kit that saved me from the lake. As soon and he touched it the blood turned to water."

"And he looked exactly like Riverheart?"

"Yes, except he had short fur and white ears, paws and belly fur. Also, nine stars circled him, Brightstar I, I think Starclan's kit might be your-"

"No." Brightstar interrupted. "I only had one son and I lost him. I'm never having kits again."

"But Riverheart's brother-"

"As far as the clan is concerned Riverheart has no brother!" Brightstar snarled, bristling with fury.

"Then you're not going to like the other dream I had." Birdsong murmured quietly. Brightstar stared at her expectantly. Birdsong sighed. " I was on highbranch next to Riverheart and she was staring longingly at the distant border, Sandclan's border."

Brightstar hissed in anger. "No! She must never go there! She must never find out who her brother is! And she definitely must never be pulled towards Killclan!" Killclan was Sandclan's nickname, all the other clans called them that because that's what Sandclan was known for. Killing.

"Brightstar I understand your anger but if Starclan's kit really is Pebblepaw then the only way to save our clan will be..." Brightstar stopped listening. She was tempted, she'd finally be united with her son again. But he hates me. She reminded herself miserably remembering the first gathering she'd seen him at.

---------------------------------------------------------

"I'm Brightstar, leader of Waterclan." She'd said nervous to be talking to her son for the first time in moons.

"Are you that cat that kidnapped me as a kit and lied to me saying I was your son?" He'd asked coldly. "Sandfang said it was a she-cat named Brightface that lived in Waterclan." Brightstar felt her heart fall in pieces.

"No. None of that happened. You look like a strong healthy warrior already, I'll be watching your progress." Pebblepaw beamed at those words, a clan leader had just complimented him! He walked away happily.

---------------------------------------------------------

"No." Brightstar decided. "Pebblepaw is a Killclan warrior now, he will be treated like one." She growled.

Birdsong stepped back. "But he's your son!" She protested. "You can't leave Starclan's kit with the enemy!"

"If I tell him I'm his mom he'll hate me more then he already does, and say Waterclan is full of liars. No. Pebblepaw will live with the knowledge he grew up with." With that Brightstar flicked her tail signaling for Birdsong to leave. Birdsong dipped her head sadly walked out.

Moments later Icewing entered. "Hunting?" He asked hopefully.

"I could use a distraction." Brightstar nodded thankful of her mate always being there for her when she was upset and padded out of camp with him, pelts brushing.
