"Geez, is it me or that teacher gets even more boring by the minute?" Sherly Grey, one of my classmates said as we all exited the class. She wasn't popular but she wasn't a loser. She was what we call a normal girl. From what I remember, she likes playing badminton and yoga. She has brown, curly medium length hair, hazelnut colored eyes, slim and flexible. She could easily go by without being noticed, but she had no trouble making herself friends.
But back to the point, I must agree with her, the teacher does sound almost like a robot programmed to say everything. How does one sound so monotone even when explaining? I sometimes question the teacher's sanity. I wonder what they do after school, I mean, they always stay in their classes to do paperwork, but after that? What kind of life do they have outside of school?
I wasn't paying much attention to what I was doing while I was in deep thought about the teacher's personal life and happened to bump into someone. I picked up the book I dropped and bowed lightly, keeping my usual silence. "Hey!" A feminine voice said, a hand landing on my shoulder lightly. "Paige, am I right?" The girl asked. I turned around to look at who was talking to me.
Sherly Grey? What does she want from me? I simply nodded; a bit curious about how she knew my name. She pointed out my book, realizing my name was written on it. Oh, that explains it. "Would you like to eat lunch with me? It's the least I could do to apologize for bumping into you." She said with a small smile, rubbing her neck lightly. She was the one who bumped into me? I thought I bumped into her.
I am kind of hesitant, I don't usually have anyone to talk to and I don't want it to be awkward for her. But, on the other hand, if I turn her down, she might try to find another way to make it up to me. That girl always keeps her word, if she wants to do something to apologize or thank you, comply and do not resist, she'll insist. I saw her 'payback her depts' to a few people.
Well, I could always just bring my sketchbook and doodle or play on my phone if I get too uncomfortable. I mean, I don't want to come off rude, but I don't want to talk... I guess I'll just let her tag along. I gave her a small nod, walking towards the next class. Sherly's smile seemed to get brighter for my small nod. "Okay, I can't wait! I'll just follow you to your usual spot."
I gave her a small smile, nodding lightly. I entered my next class, one of my favorites. I picked up a long but thin instrument box, going right into a lodge. I always liked the music classes; they gave me time to relax and sort my thoughts. The teacher for the music classes is very nice too, she doesn't teach people by force. Students who are in the music classes chose it, the class itself was optional.
I opened the box, putting together the three pieces of my flute. I turned on the keyboard in front of me, setting the flute on a nearby chair. I placed my right-hand fingers delicately on the keys, using my left hand to research a song on my phone. It didn't take long for me to find what I was looking for, setting the phone beside the flute as the music started to play from the speaker. I listened carefully to the song, pausing it after the intro. I turn to the keyboard, pressing the keys until I found the right ones, reproducing the melody.
Once I found the melody on the piano, I memorized the notes before taking the flute, getting in proper playing position. I started to redo the melody on the flute, going slower than the original song to remember my fingerings. I already knew the song by heart, so finding the next notes was quite easy for me. Little by little, I started to play faster. Soon enough, I was playing at the same tempo as the original song.
The class went by quite rapidly, I didn't even hear the lunch bell ring. The teacher came by my practice lounge, knocking lightly before opening the door lightly. " Paige, class has ended about two minutes ago. " She said in a sweet tone. I nodded, cleaning and putting away the flute before exiting the class.
