Sarah pulled the car to a stop, she turned her head and looked up at her parents house, she had never imagined that she would be back here asking for somewhere to stay.
Sarah and her parents had never had a close relationship, they go for months on end with no conversation, they don't check up on Melody, but she knew that they would help her when she needed it most.
Sarah opened the car door and slowly stepped out, its been a long time since she was standing on this street. The last time she was here was when the police arrested her ex boyfriend for strangling her.
She grabbed Melody's hand and walked up the steps to the front door, she was about to knock on the door but before she had chance the door swung open and her mother stepped out grabbed Sarah by the arms and pulling her in for a big cuddle.
"Oh Sarah, its been so long. How have you been?" Her Mother seemed happy to see her.
"Hm yes I have been fine Mom, come on lets get in" Sarah was eager to get into the house and lock the door, finally she felt at ease for once today.
"Hold on a minute, im guessing this is my beautiful Melody, oh my look how you have grown! You have gotten so big haven't you!" Sarah's Mother gushed with pride when she looked at Melody, she knelt down and gave Melody the biggest cuddle she could possibly give.
Sarah's mother walked behind Sarah and Melody and ushered them into the house, they had only been in the house for 2 minutes and her Mother was already in the kitchen, sprucing them up something to eat. Sarah's Father smiled and gave her a hug, but he didn't talk much from as far back as Sarah could remember her Father had never been a social man, he was happy sitting infront of the television watching his fishing programmes, and Sarah had learnt as a child to leave him alone else she would know about it.
Sarah's mother had been questioning Sarah about her hand, she wanted to tell her Mother the truth, she wanted to know someone was going to help her but Sarah couldn't risk them going to the police or being involved in this nightmare, so she told them she had been involved in a collision a few months ago and they couldn't save her fingers. Her mother looked traumatised and Sarah was glad that she had lied, she couldn't bare putting her parents through any kind of fear, especially not the kind where they would be fearing for their daughters life.
"Mommy, where's Daddy?" Melody whispered to Sarah.
Sarah had forgotten to tell Oliver where she and Melody had gone, what if he had gone back home? it wasn't safe for none of them to be back home. She searched frantically through her pockets and couldn't find her mobile, she couldn't remember if she had ever brought it out with her when she went to the school, the bang to her head had made her pretty exhausted and confused.
"Mom, where's your mobile, I need to text Oliver to let him know that me and Melody are staying here for a bit, else he will be worried" Sarah walked into the kitchen where her mother was still cooking them food.
Her Mother handed her the mobile that her parents shared, Sarah smiled at herself, she had never known a older couple share a mobile.
Violet -
Oliver, its Sarah Im using my Mom's phone, I can't find mine. Im at my parents house with Melody, she told me a few things about last night it turns out that all this started with a man wearing a mask in our bedroom while we slept last night, he tucked our daughter into bed and made a joke about taking my fingers, but turns out that was not a joke! It is not safe for any of us to be at that house, get here as soon as you can... text me when you can I need to know you are safe! I love you! xx
Sarah sent the message, she felt happy that she was able to say the words I love you to him and actually mean it, she was petrified of him not being safe and felt uneasy, But as the thoughts about Oliver raced through her mind her Mother's phone dinged.
