It was a nice, quiet night in the Village Hidden within the Leaves. There was a full moon shining bright and early down on the village, calming the streets peaceful glow. It was even said that there wouldn't be another beautiful night like this in another few years, which made tonight's beautiful view even much more special. Unfortunately, it was anything but a beautiful night for a certain clan.

It was that night. Yes. Only a select few people knew about what was to take place tonight but most didn't for obvious reasons. It was a night the Legendary Professor and Third Hokage of Konoha was truthfully dreadful for two reasons. One, what the night, entails. Two, who he sent to do what tonight required them to. It was the night of the Uchiha massacre and he sent none other than Itachi Uchiha, said clan's most prized member, to kill them all.

He truly felt like shit, way more than he should've felt. Not only did he and the honourable elders force this down Itachi's throat, making him choose a side but he had denied the one request that he asked if he went on with this horrible plan: saving the life of his little brother, Sasuke. Hiruzen smoked his pipe in stressed filled sigh. He was truly getting too old for this job.

When he thought of a successor, right now, the only ones he could think of who would be perfect for it would've been the Uchiha prodigy but he just lacked the proper age. He looked at the fourth picture up on his wall, seeing the spikey blonde haired man. "Why did you have to go and die, Minato?" he said in a depressed sigh but remembered a certain blonde whiskered boy running around with paint on his hands, causing a lot of mischief.

"Well... I can see why now. It's a good reason. That boy is too much like his mother" he let out a chuckle. He turned back to the village to think of Itachi, he sighed. "I'm sorry, Itachi. You always seemed to get such unfortunate assignments but this one... I wouldn't hold it against you if you wished vengeance upon us......." he said. It all truly started around the era of the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, his sensei.

Unlike his elder brother, Hashirama, Tobirama despised the Uchiha clan and didn't trust them very much. Because of his distrust, he moved the entire clan to the edge of the city near the Konoha prison but they never truly did anything, once they were given the opportunity of being Konoha's Police Force, things have calmed over, especially since Tobirama had passed and Hiruzen took the Hokage mantle.

Then, the Kyubi attack which made things even worse. Somehow, scince the attack, rumor had spread that the Uchiha were behind the attack. He couldn't fault the rumors unfortunately, it did make sense in a way. They did possess an eye that was good at hypnosis, so good to even trap the great Nine Tailed Fox in its illusion. With that speculation going around, the elders had no choice but to place the Uchiha under constant surveillance.

It rekindled the flame of hatred the Uchiha had buried within themselves and began to plot for a coup d'état. All the mistreatment that a Senju controlled village was too much and they were through following orders. However one Uchiha, who they unfortunately trusted heavily on to go through with their plans, did not feel such a way. The pride of the clan, Itachi Uchiha.

The Uchiha had placed him into the ANBU as a spy but he fortunately turned into a double agent. Hiruzen sighed. He looked over to see a picture of Konoha's most promising ANBU duo, Crow and Hawk. 'H'll be devasted to hear about Itachi.....' The Third Hokage thought. Those two were thick as thieves. Both had extraordinary records in their time in ANBU as their bond was solid, honestly, he hasn't seen such friendship in a long time.
