chapter twenty two

Chapter 22

In Case you've forgotten..

Lena's face shot up into a wide grin, hearing Kara's response. "Really?" she asked, needing a confirmation, and that she got in the form of a nod from the blonde. "I guess I probably should have asked earlier.." Lena mumbled sheepishly into Kara's neck. Kara let out a chuckle.

"do you know what colour you're wearing?"

The rest of the week went by pretty quickly, filled with studying and taking finals. Kara did let Eliza convince her to go out shopping for a prom dress on wednesday, once she knew what colour lena was wearing. Now, friday june 8th, it was the night of the senior prom. Alex, Maggie and Lena graduated on the following tuesday, but kara couldn't think about that right now. Kara was sitting at alex's vanity, getting her makeup done lightly by Eliza. Alex was doing her own makeup in her bathroom. Their dresses hung on the back of Alex's door, waiting to be worn.

Kara giggled as the brush painted light pink tickled against her bottom lip, filling in the lines. Alex soon came out of her bathroom, a full face of makeup. Just minutes before they started their makeup, the three women had sat in front of each other doing hair. Kara sat in the front, Alex sat behind Kara, doing her hair, and Eliza had been in the back, doing Alex's hair. It was a great way to save time. Not too long after Alex emerged from the bathroom, Eliza was finished with Kara's makeup. It was nice and natural, just the way she liked it.

Prom started at seven, although maggie and lena were picking the danvers sisters up at five and they were going to get food before heading to the school. It was currently four fifteen pm, and the danvers were done with hair and makeup. They went to get changed into their dresses when both teenagers shot a glare to Eliza.

"Okay, okay, I'm going downstairs. Holler if you need anything," Eliza quickly said as she was being pushed out of the room. Alex shut the door behind her and Kara giggled. The two teenagers brabbed their dresses, Kara went into the spacious bathroom while Alex changed in her room.

A couple minutes later and very few issues later, kara came out of the bathroom wearing her dress. Alex had been waiting for kara to come out and help with her zipper. Kara was by her sisters side in a second and helped her zip up the dress before she turned around and got her older sister to do the same. The two went down stairs to greet their mother, who insisted on taking photos. Kara sat down and put on her shoes before agreeing to a couple of photos. A couple minutes passed before kara headed into the kitchen and pulled out a small plate of grapes and cheese she had precut before, and started nibbling on them.

"You know we're going out for dinner, right? In like.." Alex paused and looked to the time on her phone. "Less than fifteen minutes."

Kara shrugged and popped another grape into her mouth, "it's just a snack. You know me, I'm never full,"she joked making her sister chuckle softly and shakes her head. "Well come on, there's no way my feet are getting into these without assistance," Alex held up strappy sandals with a heel on each.

Kara gave in and helped alex, but not before shoving four grapes into her mouth.

Kara was just half way with the second shoe onto alex's foot when the doorbell rang. "I'll get it!" Eliza quickly, and loudly, told the girls before rushing to the door.

"You girls look absolutely beautiful! Come in, come in" Eliza stood off to the side as the two girlfriends stepped inside the house. Their eyes immediately looked to kara on her knees, trying to shove Alex's foot into the strappy shoe. The dates chuckled, making their heads shot up. Maggie gave Alex a smile and bent down beside kara. "May I take over?" she asked, making kara nod her head enthusiastically. Kara handed over the shoe before standing up. She stepped away and looked to her girlfriend in awe. She was wearing a floor length, v neck red dress with a slit going up her thigh. She had a white shawl draped around her shoulders, and a small silver purse in one hand.

"Y-you look gorgeous." kara stuttered out after a few minutes of the two girls staring at each other. "Right. Um. you look absolutely stunning," lena finally spoke up and stepped closer, reaching out for kara's hand. Kara took it graciously and bit her lip, stopping her face from breaking into a crazy huge grin. Their moment was interrupted by Alex clearing her throat. Maggie had gotten the shoe on and mom wanted them in the living room to take pictures. After ridiculous poses (that Eliza insisted on) fifteen minutes later the girls left in Lena's jeep, Kara in the passenger seat, Lena in drivers and the other couple in the back. They drove a short eight minutes to the resturant and were immedietly escorted to a booth by the back.

When the waiter came round for drinks, kara ordered a shirley temple, lena, alex, and maggie all ordered a long island iced tea, and lena asked for a cup of water on the side. Kara pouted and leaned into her girlfriends side, claiming she felt left out. So when the drinks came, kara took a sip of lena's long island iced tea and scrunched up her face. "That does not taste like iced tea!"

Within an hour and a half, everyone had been fed. Kara had had a few more sips of Lena's iced tea, and was clearly just a bit tipsy. "Kara danvers drunk.." alex said, "I never thought I'd see the day!"

From there, they headed to the school and lena made sure kara was drinking water regularly. They walked into the school, hand in hand, before finding a table to sit at. The four of them had some laughs before a tipsy kara (who had had some of the spiked punch as well) asked lena to dance. Lena immedietly accepted, taking karas hand back in her own and leading her to the dance floor. Lena wrapped her arms around Kara's neck and Kara's hands rested on Lenas hips as the song 'Everything Has Changed' by Taylor Swift started to play and they swayed along. 

A/N: this is part one to prom chapters, which  I will be working more on when I wake up in the morning as its currently 2am. angst in next chapter, be prepared. please vote and comment to tell me what you think!
