The First Grandchild

A/N My dearest readers, I am so very sorry that I have waited so long to update! I have been settling into a new school and making new friends and things! I have been working on something! Sadly its no a sheo fic its more of a story but I hope you all give it a chance anyway! I havent published it yet as its still in the works. So for now please just enjoy my lil' peice of work :) xx I hope this is worth the wait! xx

"Ringgggg Ringgggggg"

Shailene groggily wiped her eyes and mumbled incoherently under her breath as she fumbled at the side of her bed looking for her phone. Theo, as he was a deep sleeper just tugged the duvet closer to him and rolled over. She rolled her eyes at him before sleepily swiping at her phone without bothering to look at the caller ID. 

"Hello?" She mumbled

"Hi Shailene? This is Johnathan." Shailene heard the man speak nervously. Your probally wondering who's Johnathan? Well, Johnathan is Ava's boyfriend. She met him at a concert that she was performing in and it was love at first sight. Not. Actually Johnathan was dating someone else and so was Ava, they became best friends and then, well they fell in love. 

"Oh Johnathan what do you want at this ungodly hour?" She asked quietly.

"Uh well, Ava's water broke and we are at the hospital. She asked me to phone you." By now you probally guessed it! Yes, Ava is having a child! She got pregnant not long after Johnathan and her starting dating. She was super worried about having to tell him but he was delighted and eventually so was she. Of course Shailene and Theo were excstatic to be having their first grandchild.

"Oh my god! Oh my god! THEO!" Shailene said excitedly shaking Theo with her free hand. "For fuck sake Theo wake up!" 

"Shailene? I have to go now, Ava is asking for me"

"Oh of course honey, don't worry. Tell Ava that her father and I will be there as soon as Theo gets his lazy ass up" 

Shailene heard Johnathan chuckle down the other side of the phone. "Of course Shai, Goodbye see you soon!"

"Bye Johnathan!" And then the line went dead. Theo still wasn't awake so she would have to wake Theo up the old fashioned way. She got up out of bed and tiptoed into the kitchen, she filled up a jug of water before going back the bedroom. She walked around to Theo's side of the bed slowly and quietly and chucked the water onto him.

He immediately sat up straight and spluttered "What the fuck was that for?" 

Shailene rolled her eyes at his dramatics before replying "Well I don't know? Your daughter could be in labour or something?"

"Oh right shit, sorry Shai you could have just shaked me" He replied with his eyebrows raised.

"Tried that, I'm not stupid Theo. Lets just get ready okay? I want to meet my first Grandchild" She said with a grin fighting its way onto her face.

Theo grinned back "Of course love".

*A couple of hours later*

The past few hours had consisted of Shailene, Theo, Zach, Flora, Lydia and Ash sitting in the waiting room anxiously waiting for the arrival of the new family member.

Shailene kept bouncing her legs until Theo placed a firm hand on her thigh. "Shailene love it will be alright, you did it 3 times I'm pretty sure our Ava can do it once." He said with a small smile.

She looked up at him through her lashes and replied "Thanks Theodore" She smirked before placing her hand on top of Theo's and interlinking their fingers.

Not long later Johnathan came through the doors with a massive grin on his face.

"It's a girl everybody" He announced to the family. Shailene ran up too Johnathan and embraced him into a hug, she whispered her congratulations to him before pulling out of the embrace and allowing the rest of the family to congratulate him.

"Well you guys can come and see her now but I think we are only allowed two people at a time so Shailene and Theo, seeing as you are the Grandparents, why don't you come first?"

Shailene smiled and grabbed Theo's hand before following Johnathan into the ward. He led them past loads of rooms before they finally made it. Johnathan knocked before entering saying "Hey love, your parents are here to see new bundle of joy"

Shailene and Theo went into the room and Shailene's eyes started to water at the sight in front of her. Her baby Ava was sitting in a hospital bed with a hospital gown on with her very own daughter resting in her arms. It was all too much for Shailene so the tears threated to spill over. She walked towards her daughter and looked down at her grandaughter. "She is so beautiful honey, she looks just like you." Ava had tears in her eyes aswell as she admired her daughter.

"Do your mother and I get the honour of knowing her name love?" Theo asked as he walked over to stand beside Shailene and also looking down at his gorgeous grandaughter.

Ava chuckled "Of course Dad. Mum, Dad I would like to introduce you to my daughter Ana Shailene MacIntyre." 

At the finishing of her sentence more tears fell down Shailene's cheeks. Her voice croaked "Shailene?"

"Of course Mum, you're my hero and I think little Ana deserves to have a hero's name" The tears were flowing freely down both Shailene and Ava's cheeks now. Shailene leaned down and pressed her lips to both Ava and Ana's foreheads. 

"I love you Ava and little Ana." She whispered as she pulled away.

"Mum? Do you want to hold her?" Shailene looked at Ava like she had just hung the moon and the stars. 

"Of course Ava" Ava lifted up Ana and placed her securely into Shailene's arms. Shailene looked down at her grandaughter and took in all her features and how much she looked like Ava. She already knew that her and Theo would spoil her rotten. And do you know what?

Shailene couldn't care less.
