Zoe
I was drinking wine seated on a velvet red stool in my kitchen staring blankly at the white cabinets. I needed one night to myself without anyone bothering me about business. My mind needed a break from my work. Marcus had trackers out looking for Zeus but my doubts were high for I knew they weren't going to find him. Tyler already sent out some of our members to expand the team and that's not what I wanted but it's what had to be done. This meant I had to keep my position private.
Hunter walked into the kitchen and smiled slightly towards me as he dried his short hair with a towel. I took the last gulp of wine down my throat and poured another glass.
"Can we talk?" he asked me and I had to hold back from rolling my eyes. "I need to apologize for what happened at that party."
"Hunter," I sighed. "It's over. What's done is done."
"Not in this case," he gritted through shut teeth. "I was totally wasted, and the alcohol was making me only think about you. I wanted you out of my head so I hooked up with one girl. But we aren't together anymore and you want nothing to do with me. So, I will say I'm sorry for upsetting you but if drunk me wants to kiss a girl then that's what drunk me is going to do."
My blood was boiling at this point reaching one-hundred degrees as the smoke blew from my ears like a train whistle. The alcohol added to that burn and my mind raced with different names I should be calling Hunter.
"If you only knew," I spat with disgust.
"Knew what?""I was ready to fuck Tristan in the bathroom but you know why I didn't? Because all I could see was your stupid face."
Hunter's nostrils flared and he chewed the inside of his lip.
"You're still fucking him? I'm gonna kill him."
"Oh, save it hot shot," I snorted. "You know damn right well you'd never kill your best friend. Yes, me and him have fucked but that's none of your concern since we 'aren't together anymore.' And by all means, go ahead and kiss any dirty whore you want, see if I give two shits."
"Then why did it bother you?"
"Because of the fact I turned down Tristan for you and you slap me in the face with that scene."
"How was I supposed to know?"
"Ugh!" I yelled and slammed my fist down on the counter then chugged the full glass of wine. "You don't understand and you never will. So, let's just forget it!"
Hunter leaned back against the fridge with his arms crossed looking like a stubborn child. I tapped my foot and chewed my nails viciously trying to delete him from the room with my mind. I hated the fact he still made me feel like I was helpless Zoe who needed a strong bad boy in my life when I was a freaking boss now! I shouldn't still feel this way considering I was on top.
"You know..." Hunter began with a small smirk. "Our arguing still makes me horny."
I snarled and chucked the cork from the wine bottle at his head, but he dodged it and laughed.
"What do you say we take this wine to the bathroom, have a nice hot bath together-"
"No way in hell," I cut him off. "Your little tricks don't work on me anymore."
"I think you're lying," he winked and began to step towards me. He moved my body around in the chair so I was facing him as he placed two hands on my thighs and looked me in the eyes. "You know my tricks will always have a toll on you."
"Stop it," I whispered and tried to keep my eyes locked with his so they wouldn't wander to his lips.
"Stop avoiding your feelings babe."
