He stayed a few days inside the Tower. He knew that Tony had given him a room, before the matter with Ultron he had already stayed there for a while. He forgot that before the base, Tony had changed the name of the Stark Tower to the Avengers Tower.
Tony had partially abandoned the company's affairs. He was listening to the stories of Steve's future. He emphasized the renewals of his armor over the years. Steve felt better-having, someone, to talk to. I had never told Peggy all that.
- So ... were you while my mother was pregnant?
- As Howard broke the news, we moved to England. I didn't want to be there to ruin everything since your childhood. - There were painful details that Tony never overlooked.
- I don't think you would have ruined anything ... My father was very hard and I would have loved to have you there to support me. More now that you are the Steve Rogers Maduro. - Tony joked.
- It really has been difficult. I went back to my time, but I was never Captain America again. I didn't even try to save Bucky. He could not take away his future in Wakanda or his moments with Sam ... - He remembered how close those two had become, although they almost always fought. It reminded them of how Stark and he were at the beginning.
- You told me about Sam, but Wakanda? - Tony questioned.
Steve laughed. - True, there are a few years to go public.
The blond really enjoyed knowing more in some ways than Tony. Living in the Tower and being with him managed to raise his spirits. I wished that would not end.
- I also regret everything you went through. - Tony whispered while working on the ideas for his MARK. Since Steve mentioned them, he kept thinking about them.
Steve had redrawn. Maybe a century had passed since I didn't. He looked up from the sketch of the armor. - I should tell you.
- You've done it 29 times a day. - Stark answered without looking away from his project. - Maybe if Red Skull had not coveted the gem, you would not have been frozen, Bucky would also have been saved. You and Peggy and my father would have been unstoppable. They would have founded SHIELD much earlier and ... I would have had more support as a child. Although, of course ... without Bucky, my parents wouldn't have died. Perhaps you would have brought Howard to reason, having been a better father.
- Tony ... your father loved you ... - He approached the desk, dropping his notebook. - You know? I didn't even have a clue what Red Skull was. I thought it was an attempt before the super soldier's serum, but it turned out to be an entity that wanted something as mean as Thanos. I had to hide the gem somewhere else. I know he can't use it, he's a guardian. But he couldn't give it back knowing that if we needed it, someone would have to die hopelessly. He leaned against the surface of the table, waiting for Tony to stop and look at him. - We could look guilty and never end. But it could also ... come back again, be that support for you since childhood.
Tony turned immediately, smiling, but shaking his head. - I just wanted to know why I didn't meet you before. - He also leaned on the table. - It's hard enough to live your life, to complicate yourself by jumping in time. Any mistake you make, you can reverse it, but even if it's tempting, are you really living? I mean ... you held on to Peggy. But she wasn't your Peggy. Maybe you stole it from someone else. And I'm not the Tony you missed. The Steve who is still in Washington ... is the one who hides the death of my parents, with whom he may fight and leave me in Siberia. That is the Steve that is in my destiny.
- No ... - Rogers took him by the wrists, both facing each other. - I can't be a spectator. See my mistakes again. I want to save everyone ... save you.
