- I still have a reserve of Pym Particles. I will use them so that the time gem no longer wears the effect of the serum, but with the space gem, I have no choice. - It was prepared on the basis that Tony had just built. His quantum suit was the same one he had used many decades ago.
- Luck. - It was the only thing Tony answered while watching him leave in a flurry of intense lights.
Stark managed to dodge during the days he had lived with the new Captain Bruce, Steve of his time, Nat and Clint. Thor was still absent. He worried that the plan would not work, that the new Steve had a complication and never came back, as a few minutes had passed. How would you explain to the team about everything that had happened? Would they believe him?
But his doubts were suspended when the base ignited on his own seconds later.
- Steve? - He took him in his arms, fearing that he will crumble on the ground, he had only seen his pre-serum version in photographs, but he recognized him. - What happened? How much were you there? Did you defeat him?
The blond was still reeling. His quantum suit was pretty loose. Tony took him to the couch he always had in his workshop, laying him down carefully. - It was 7 years, I think. I made many jumps. I didn't want to do it like that, there was no choice. I listened to Rodhey, but without strangulation ... - He covered his face with one hand, the other had the gauntlet almost melted. It was very heavy for his small body. Tony tried to remove it, but it burned on contact. With the arm of his armor he was able to get it off, Rogers.
The blond had severe burns, but Tony assumed that part of the serum cushioned the damage. He finally removed the metal gadget carefully. - I have to go back to get you more serum. - He thought quickly. He was worried about some internal damage and it was best to steal what in the first place had made him a super-soldier.
Steve denied and removed a StarkPhone from the future from his pants. He had better holographic technology than Tony had at the time. He handed it over. - I got the formula. I thought of a photograph, but I returned at this moment and you said that you also needed the plans of your father's machine for the lightning bolts. I hope I have done well this time.
Tony looked amazed. - When...? Why ... why don't I remember it?
- These trips are confusing. Do you think you can replicate it? I've stolen so many times that I don't think it's still viable. I must not create more timelines. - Steve explained as Jarvis began analyzing the damage to his body. Stark opened the files, displaying them. His AI began to form a model of the machine.
- Jar is going to help you with the wounds and create the machine. I will work in the serum. - It helped him get comfortable and wasted no time. It started with the formula. He understood why the mystery surrounding the super soldier's serum. Howard was not the only one who created an element, Dr. Erskine had something new and formed molecules that under no natural or laboratory condition could be created even in his time. Despite this, he followed every note Steve managed to steal to recreate it as accurately as possible.
They were sleepless nights. Steve rested in his room, asleep thanks to medications.
It wasn't time to celebrate yet, but Tony could feel that the fear of an unknown threat had suddenly vanished. All thanks to Steve and I couldn't let him die.
- Stop trying ... - Dragging my feet. - Maybe it should be. - Steve was able to get to the workshop.
- << He didn't allow me to warn you, sir. >> - Jarvis interrupted.
- It won't be like that. - Tony caught him. He was getting weaker since his arrival. - We will do it now.
He charged him to the machine, locking him in a capsule. He prepared the syringes with the serum. If he didn't succeed, Steve would die, but if he tried right away, he would too. Half of his body did not resist the power of gems. Only serum delayed the inevitable, but without it there was not much hope left.
He triggered the entire mechanism, listening to Steve's piercing screams. Jarvis stopped him when he did not perceive the vital signs of Rogers.
Tony stopped the energy and opened the capsule manually. He did not move despite having the body he already knew about him. He started with CPR, pressing his chest.
- You're not going to abandon me on this timeline ... - He pressed again. Under normal circumstances, it would have broken a rib, but it was not so, so the serum could have worked. - Awake...
Jarvis tried to stop him, Tony continued until his arms ached.
Steve started coughing.
Stark clung to his torso and knocked on his pecs.
- Enough. - The blond whispered barely between opening his eyelids.
- Fool. - Tony smiled, hiding his face in his sweat-soaked pecs. - You almost died.
Steve felt exhausted. His body ached in ways he didn't remember. The time without the serum and his near-death experience, adding up the years he had not been there with Tony ... he still could not process all that. Was everything finally fine? He reacted when the chestnut looked up. Nor did he remember the last time they had been so close and without thinking too much, he surrounded him with both arms. - Why didn't you let me die? There are still two Captains in this line. The problem would have turned out by itself.
Tony laughed, this time he didn't try to pull away. - I need to tell you about this anomaly. Whose managed to save our universe. They won't believe me without proof.
Rogers smiled, releasing him a little to look at him. - Only for that? Credibility?
- I must not hide secrets from the team. I could do it, but you know better than anyone that it doesn't work in the end. Also ... if there is still the possibility of a fight with the Captain, I want one to be on my side. - He smiled genuinely.
Steve shivered. He remembered his eyes, but he had never had the time to appreciate them carefully. - And ... how do you plan to tell them?
- I have postponed the celebration party because of what happened with the Chitauri. It would be the best time now that you plan to stay.
- I haven't told you that I will stay. - He grumbled, Rogers.
- You did it. If you had not looked for the serum formula. You owe me.
Steve smiled. Tony was beginning to read his mind and decipher better than himself what he wanted most.
