The following morning, Bonnibel woke up with her head resting upon a few scattered pieces of notes, with a thin book nearby on the history of the city. With a string of hair stuck to her cheek, she sat up and looked around. She looked at the clock which read 8:03 a.m., then looked over at the bed and saw Marceline staring at the ceiling.

Marceline continued to stare at the ceiling and asked, “Why are you awake? We don’t have to get up for another 3 hours.”

Bonnibel shrugged and said, “Fell asleep early so I don’t really feel tired.” She glanced down at the notes on her desk, mostly of her few findings, which from the way it was written, could only be understood by her. “Plus I don’t think I could sleep with all this work to do...”

Bonnibel sighed heavily and growled, “This is so frustrating! There’s no leads and the only suspicious person is either Doctor Chienne or that weirdo with the neck beard!” She raked her nails through her hair, her aggravation building up.

“They only look suspicious to you because they’re annoying. Try not to be bias about it Bonni,” Marceline urged, now leaning on her side.

“Don’t you think I know that!? Obviously they’re not guilty or else they’d already be locked up in the Candy Kingdom dungeon!” Bonnibel exclaimed, clenching onto her pen.

“Dude calm down. It’s only been one day. You have a whole week to do this.” Marceline comforted, floating over to her angry companion.

“I know, I’m sorry I shouldn’t be taking this out on you. Just there’s so much work that’s been piling up and this really isn’t helping...” Bonnibel muttered and unclenched her fist, setting the pen back on her desk.

After a few minutes of tense silence, Marceline quietly offered, “Um, since you’re so stressed, I could...give you a massage if you want...” After another few moments of no answer and a blank expression as a reply she panicked and said, “I’m not trying to be weird or anything! I just thought it might...well, help you calm down!” Her face was nearly burning from embarrassment by the time Bonnibel answered, “Yeah, that’d be really nice actually. Thank you Marceline.”

Marceline mentally kicked herself of certain weird feelings she had about giving her long time friend a massage, and then ordered said friend to close her eyes and sit up straight. She then stretched and cracked her fingers, and easily pressed down into Bonnibel’s shoulders. She worked on that area for a minute, and then started working southward on her back, kneading circles into any stress related knots she felt, which were incredibly easy to target since there were so many of them. “You know Marcey,” Bonnibel muttered, her eyes fluttering closed, “You should become a masseuse.”

Marceline snorted, “Why would I do that?”

“Because this is probably the best massage I have ever had in my life,” Bonnibel muttered with a content sigh.

Marceline told her to lean forward so she could work on her lower back, “Dude should that make me feel honored or something?”
