Maddie's POV

Chloe's POV

"Oh ChloBear! I miss you sooooo much!" Maddie yawned. It was 1:00am. We stayed up all night informing each other on events happening at Whitman and regular school.

"I miss you too Madz. But at least you're surrounded by everyone who loves you... Which is basically the entire school!" I laughed. The line went dead.

"Maddie?..."

"I gotta go! Ok bye." She rushed.

Weird. I walked to my bed and crawled under the warm covers, pulling the sheet up against my bare legs. I grabbed my homework and started simplifying expressions and combining like terms. It was impossible. On the last question, I took one look at my messy, confusing work, and decided I'd be fine with a F. From the looks of this work, I probably deserved a T minus. I closed my eyes and thought of Maddie's perfect handwriting. Her understanding of every subject all the time. Honors everything. She got an A+ in lunch. How is that even possible?! She knows every person in the school, including teachers and yes, lunch ladies.

"You need some help with that?" Autumn asked kindly. No one was watching us. I stated intently at her, wondering why angle she was playing this time.

"You've helped enough." I decided. She looked at my paper.

"What!?"

"That is all wrong. #8 should be 3x-7y. Since your simplifying, you're making things easier. So just use the subtraction sign as the negative."

I gasped. Autumn stated that she was horrible at math. But now that I think about it, I've never seen one of her tests.

"I felt horrible about this whole thing Chloe. When you get to know them, they aren't bad at all."

"I don't care. Thank you for the homework help, but I don't think I'll be able to get over the mean things you said to us." I started to close the door to my bed, but she interjected her hand in between.

"Please forgive me."

That was the last thing she said.
