"Emma!" Henry said running to her after school.
"What up kid," she said turning to face him, "I was just exploring the town."
"Great! We can explore my castle," he said taking her hand and leading her away.
"You have a castle?!" She said sort of stunned.
He didn't answer as he dragged her to the playground shaped like a castle.
"Ohhh," she said as they approached, "Kid you gotta start off with that it's a playground."
"Whatever, come on. We gotta discuss operation Cobra," he said sitting down, "Come on."
"Operation what now?" She said sitting next to him.
"Operation Cobra. It's our mission. We have to break the curse and return everyone to the enchanted forest."
"Let's say for a second I believe you. How would we go about convincing an ENTIRE town that they're fairytale characters," she questioned.
"That's where your bounty hunter skills come in. We need to figure out the best way to get everyone to see their true selves. That means we've got to collect info, spy on everyone, stake outs, and maybe just maybe we can break the curse," he told her.
"Henry! Henry is that you?" Someone yelled from the distance.
Both mother and child turned to see Madam Mayor herself heading towards them.
"What are you doing here," Henry said quickly hiding his book, "You're not supposed to know about this place."
"Henry I'm mayor. I know every inch of this town, and when you go missing I walk it as well," she said standing in front of them, "Miss Swan if you insist on taking my son without my permission, I'm going to need your number," she said with a smirk as she handed the blonde her phone, "So I can call you next time I'm worried."
"Mhm, yeah sure," Henry said as he watched his mom give his moms phone back to her.
"Henry please," Regina scoffed, "Can we forget about your imagination for one second."
"Madam Mayor I'm sorry. The kid just ran into me after school," Emma explained.
"Besides the fact Miss Swan," Regina sighed, "Henry let's go."
"Where are we going?" He asked following his guardian.
"Home. You had quite enough free time today," she scolded.
"Madam mayor, with all due respect, he's a kid. Maybe loosen up a bit, it is only 6," she said trying to defend her son.
"Funny phrase that is," Regina started
Emma cocked her head, "What?"
"With all due respect. It's sort of like when people say no offense with all the intention of offending the person. This is similar, as you see this situation we're in has no respect in it. It is disrespectful that you keep seeing my son without my permission and it is disrespectful of you to think you have a say in his life when you gave up that right a decade ago. It was a sealed adoption that means you have no claim to Henry. I am his mother. He is MY son. I give him rules for his safety so please respect that next time," she said getting sort of heated as she looked at the ground avoiding eye contact with the charming blonde. (A/N ha see what I did there)
Emma rubbed her neck nervously. She was 100% correct. She knew what she was giving up when she let her son go all those years ago. She wanted him to have a better chance and he got that with Regina. Why was she messing everything up for him now?
"Now if you'll excuse us Miss Swan we're going home," Regina said grasping for Henry's hand.
"Emma do something!" He pleaded.
"Madam Mayor," Emma said jogging after them.
The brunette ignored her.
"Regina please," she begged.
Mayor Mills stopped suddenly but continued looking towards the ground.
"Could you at least look at me?" The blonde questioned.
She continued to ignore her.
Emma sighed and walked towards her. Henry curiously watched trying to figure out what was happening. He watched as his biological mother stood in front of his adoptive mother and used her finger to tilt the other women's head up to look her in the eyes.
Regina's breath hitched in her throat as her eyes locked with the hazel eyes in front of her.
"I am sorry Regina. I have no intention of breaking up the good family dynamic you got going on here, but he is my son too. I didn't give him up because I didn't want and if you'd just give me a chance I'll show you," she said as she kneeled down to hold Henry's hands, "and you that."
Regina looked down at her son and the blonde haired women. She shook her hair out from her eyes and looked up at the sky trying to avoid eye contact, but she couldn't avoid it much longer when Emma took her hand in hers as well.
"Please Regina," she said giving the mayor a small smile, "I mean you've literally got me begging on my knees here."
Regina laughed, "Ok. Ok. Fine. Just get up off the floor. You're embarrassing yourself Miss Swan."
Emma laughed, "Good to know Madam Mayor. I'll let you two head home. Will I be able to see Henry tomorrow?"
Henry and Regina exchanged glances.
"If you wanna keep up your charade you might as well let her," Henry said with a shrug.
She rolled her eyes, "I'll think about it."
Emma watched as Henry and Regina walked into the distance. When she couldn't see them any longer she made her way towards Granny's where she got a grilled cheese to go and headed to her room. She laid in her bed and started munching on her food as she watched COPS on TV. 5 shows later her phone vibrated.
(A/N: Bold texts are Emma or whatever character POV at the time texting as themselves)
Unknown: Miss Swan?
8:25pmYes, Madam Mayor?
8:25pmRegina: I have a meeting tomorrow afternoon at 1. If you'd like you can watch Henry until I'm done.
8:28pmThat sounds great. I'll be at your house at 1.
8:28pmThank you.
8:30pmRegina: For?
8:35pmTrusting me with Henry.
8:36pmRegina: Don't make me regret it.
8:36pmI won't. Goodnight Regina.
8:37pmRegina: It's Madam Mayor to you.
8:43pmRegina: Goodnight... Emma
8:44pmEmma smiled at her phone. She was breaking through to the mayor. Tearing her walls down. She was getting to the center of the seemingly pretentious leader. The mayor was a woman of mystique and Emma always liked a little mystery.
