John woke in a puddle of water to rain on the roof. The roof was leaking. It was bright outside so John sat up.
"Sir!" John asked. Jakeryn was there. John looked around for a note to no avail. The bag of artifacts was on the table in the corner of the room. John hadn't got to pack any clothes for the troop or anything what's so ever. John reached for the ring in the bag hoping it would show were Jakeryn was. He picked it up and a beam of light appeared around it.the beam flip right in an instant. It pointed out the door. He grabb3d the bag and everything he thought he'd need and walked out the door.
He walked through the thick fog and forest looking for Jakeryn. After a little while he found Jakeryn at the edge of a pond. He was holding the knife harvesting leaves of a red branch.
"John!" Jakeryn Yelled over the rain. John ran towards him.
"Sir, what are you doing?" John asked sitting him self next to him.
"I'm collecting materials for a potion we need." John noticed that Jakeryn was putting the leaf shaving in a vile. "It's to increase your endurance. John were about to slip through one of the most guarded empires in all of Sivyln. That's why we won't be able to stop much. I have a set plan to stop when we make it to the safe zone of the mountains." John nodded in understanding. "Just drink this!" John drank it all in one gulp.
"Let's go!" Jakeryn Yelled. They marched through the forest and plains. It was a beautiful site, but there were signs of a never ending war going on. Broken siege machines, Dead horses, dead soldiers, and even crushed ruins. The pair went on through for one hour before stopping. There was a small group of soldiers down the hill. John and Jakeryn stayed dead silent as the men came closer. The men held spears and had long ears. They wore brown and green leather and stood quite tall. Luckily as rain came down, the men moved away following a narrow pathway through a valley.
"John, we need to go that way so I advise extreme caution." John nodded. They traveled swiftly through the valley with careful vigilance. They arrived at a great river. By the water was a small boat.
"We're gonna need to go one at a time. There's a strong current towards us so we can push the boat back. Jakeryn said dragging the boat over to John.
"I can go first." John volunteered. Jakeryn agreed and John got on the boat. There was barely any room for the bag. Jakeryn gave him a paddle and pushed him out. The water was filled with giant eel like monsters. John stood up to see what they were and was knocked by a wave. He tried to keep his balance but the bag tipped dangerously close to the water. John tried to save it and fell in. One of the eels bit his leg he jumped onto the boat and ripped it off exposing the flesh. He tried to find the paddle but it fell over. He grabbed the bag and paddle with his hands. Atleast Jakeryn would get it. After about fifteen minutes of struggle, John reached the end. He pushed the boat back and watched as Jakeryn paddled towards him. He tried to heal his leg but it was a clean cut through. Time was running out before they'd still have cover of rain and Jakeryn was only was only half way. John kept waiting. He was bleeding heavily now.
"Kid... HEY KID!" A raspy voice said from behind him. John turned his head around grabbing the bag. It was one of the elves from before. "Whoa... what are you! Are you a Hoo-mane?" John was speechless. He didn't know what to do. He picked up the sword ready to attack.
"Put that down" A female voice said from behind the elf. John couldn't do much. He reached in the bag and grabbed the pendant. He stepped away and thunder rained down on the elves. He was wounded and scared now going unconscious. He laid his head down and a listen to the waves. A man scooped him up. Unable to open his eyes he just sat there listening to the mans feet run through the forest. Listen to him open a door and place him on a bed. John sat there. The man opened Johns eyes.
"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH" John screamed. It was a goblin. It leaped back from John. The house was full of scientific and magic artifacts. Pitcher of blue liquid, files of magic substances. There were strange things hanging from the ceiling. Wire looking things.
"Please, Doari Comes in peace!" The goblins voice was high and squeaky. "I come to investigate human!" He poured the blue substance on Johns leg. Stung so bad John leaped up screaming. He tried to punch the goblin but it got away. He laid down, unable to move. The goblin glanced over John. The pain stung worse then ever.
"Human skin different then goblin hmmm?" John looked at him puzzled. "I fix my cut week last, did not burn skin hmmm." John looked down at his leg were he got bit. It was burned red and black all over. He grabbed the goblins neck and through it to the ground. It was only 3 feet tall. It got up and jumped on his table grabbing a small dagger. He jumped of and on to John. The door swung open.
"Stand back!" Jakeryn Yelled. The goblin turned to see the man at the door. He pulled out a red vile and held it in his hand. He poured it over himself and disappeared. Jakeryn rushed to help John. He used some of the things In the goblins workshop to fix up a nice potion. John drank it all and the wound began to sooth.
"What did the... the goblin do." He panted.
"He gave you a goblin tonic. It works for rough and hard skin." John stood up and began to walk. The pain was gone but the burn and effect was still there. They both walked out and continued through the forest were the goblin had took him.
"John, were about to pass one of the most armed camps in all Erir. Make as little sound possible." John nodded. As they scaled a few hills, John a large camp atop a hill to the right. He watched the men go in and out from it.
"They call it Fort Sin" Jakeryn explained. He continued to sneak past the men and traverse the Great Plains it laid on. They entered an extremely grassy area. The grass was so high it went past there heads.
"What's that noise?" John whispered. They listen, they heard faint hooves trotting from the right and left. Jakeryn silenced John and they kept listening. Hiding behind the grass they spotted two hooves come down for the right, right in front of them. They must have been twice the size of a normal horse. They trotted past and then stopped. They heard another set of hooves a little further to the left. John peaked above the grass to see two hood figures on horses dressed in brown cloaks. They dismounted there horses and walked towards each other. John listen very closely at what they said.
"Sir Keller, I have this little rascal and thought you'd like to hear what he's saying." Said the first voice.
"Let me see em' " John poked up again to see the small goblin being handed to the supposed Sir Keller.
"I found a human across that river over there." He started. "And I was trying to heal his leg man." Doari kept going about him and John's interaction and how he'd escaped using a potion of invisibility.
"Hmph." Said Sir Keller.
"Sir to me this sounds like nonsense, shall we feed him to the lions?" Said the other voice.
"I take this job of defence against the humans very seriously, there will be no humans In this realm."
