Lillian's POV

"I'll be right back with your drink." I say politely -even though I want to kick him out-, then walk off leaving Niall speechless.

As I go to bring Niall his drink someone pulls on my arm and stops me. I turn around and see that it was Daisy who stopped me. "You can take your break now," She tells me, "But you only have half an hour, no more. Got it?"

I shake my head and say, "I don't need to take my break. I don't even deserve a break after all the days I missed."

"One; you didn't even miss that many days. And two; you're supposed to be weak from being so terribly sick. If you don't take your break my parents will start getting suspicious, and I will not get in trouble just because you don't want to take your stupid break." Daisy orders, being bossier than she normally is.

"Fine, whatever. Who's going to serve Niall?" I question, wishing I hadn't forgotten about work.

"I will." She says, surprising me.

"But you're a hostess, Daisy." I point out, thinking that she may have momentarily forgot that.

"My parents own the place; I've learned how to work every position." She chuckles, then shoves me towards the table that Niall is sitting at.

I get to his table and set his drink down and say, "I've got thirty minutes, start speaking." I sit down and he starts talking.

"I'm sorry for being so rude earlier." Niall apologizes.

"Is that it? All you have to say to me is sorry?" I question, getting mad.

Niall nods his head and says, "Yeah."

"Seriously?"

"I really am sorry, I just don't know what else to tell you."

"Thank you- for wasting my time, Niall. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go spend my break doing something useful." I huff, then leave the table. I go to grab my stuff for work, but Daisy stops me again.

"You still have almost your entire break left, you aren't working until those thirty minutes are up." She says, grabbing my stuff from me.

"Come on, Daisy." I whine.

"He was trying to apologize to you, Lillian." Daisy tells me, "You should at least see his reason for being rude."

"I don't wan- wait, were you eavesdropping on us?" I ask, realizing that she shouldn't know what Niall and I were talking about.

"I was not eavesdropping, thank you very much. I was just waiting some of the nearby tables and happened to overhear your conversation." She says, smiling at me.

I laugh and say, "Maybe this is why your parents don't let you wait tables."

"Take that back!" She says, lightly hitting my shoulder.

"Not unless you let me skip my break." I sing, smiling at her.

"That is so not fair." She pouts at me.

"Life isn't fair, my dear Daisy."

"Fine, but you'll have to do my job. I quite enjoy being a waitress." Daisy compromises.

"That works with me." I agree, "Then I won't have to deal with Niall." Daisy just shakes her head then continues to wait tables. I grab what I need for the station and walk to the front of the restaurant.

An hour later I see Niall walk towards the door. He looks back at me, giving me a look of desperation. I just ignore him. I continue to do my job until I hear noise coming from outside. I look up to see a swarm of people -who are probably swarming Niall. I think of helping him, but decide I'd rather not.

At the end of my shift Daisy's mom walks up to me and says, "I'm glad that your doing better now. We were starting to worry about you, especially when Daisy told us how sick you were."

"Thank you." I smile at her. "It was just the flu, but it didn't stop me from thinking I was going to die." She laughs at that.

"I know this is awfully sudden and it's okay if you can't, but do you think you could start working full time?" She asks me, looking hopeful.

"Of course. I can do that." I answer.

"Thank you so much!" She says happily. "Ever since Daisy got engaged we've been running around like chickens with their heads cut off. She's been working more and her dad -oh, her poor dad- has been stressing out."

"Daisy's getting married?" I question, shocked.

"In ten months." Daisy tells me, popping up out of nowhere.

"Why didn't you tell me? I didn't even know you and Max had gotten that serious. Ahh, I'm so excited!" I squeal, then give Daisy a giant hug.

For the next week things went like they used to, like it did before I met Niall, and I didn't really mind. If Niall didn't need me -and couldn't even come up with a proper apology for push me away-, then I didn't need him.

But what I didn't know was that Niall needed me a lot more than I thought.

Niall's POV

"Come on, Niall, you need to do something outside of thi place. You can't just mope here for the rest of your life." Zayn tells me, trying to get me out of my room for the billionth time this week.

"Nothing says I can't." I tell him, emotionless.

"You're moping over the silliest of things, Ni. If she's going to leave you like that you should just move on. She isn't worth this." Zayn says, touching a sensitive subject.

"Please leave me to mope in peace."

"Don't do this again, please." Zayn begs me. "Don't do this to us again."

"Just leave." And he does just that, leaving me alone again.

I turn on my music -probably playing it louder than I should be- and lay on my bed, continuing my moping. I think back to my life before Lillian. Maybe they really were right. Maybe I'm not worth loving. Maybe I should stop trying.
